Grandmother's ring on wedding day thoughts?

Beachy, on May 25, 2017 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

My grandmother was the woman who raised me when my father was working. She was literally the closest person to me up until the day she passed in 2011.

I wear her wedding ring on a necklace every day. I never take it off unless I am in any fear it could come off or get lost. It has her ring and a pendant FH bought me (celtic knot in honor of her being Irish) both on a necklace my father bought me in high school. (photo below of me with necklace)

I want the ring with me when I get married. I am unsure if I want to wear this necklace (or purchase another necklace for the occasion) and put the ring on it. I don't wear it on my fingers because it doesn't fit me and I am afraid to get it sized. If anything happened to it I would lose my mind. I couldn't handle it.

I was wondering if anyone had any input on a way to approach this as it is super special. I will have it on one way or another. I just do not know how yet.

Thanks in advance!

ETA: Words.

Another option would be to pin in to the inside of your dress by your heart. My great grandmother had 3 diamonds she gave to my sisters and me. My mom had them made into necklaces. Both my sisters chose to pin their necklace to the inside of their dress as their something old.

If it looks good with the dress, wear the necklace. I think your wedding is also about continuing to be who you are!

Also, I have a family ring too that had to be completely re-shanked in order to be resized. I bit the bullet and did it, and of course was nervous the whole time but it came out just fine. I had Jared do it and they were very professional and totally understood my paranoia. They even insured it while it was in their posession (it was before I had insureance) although of course things like this are priceless.

Definitely put it on your bouquet or somehow on your dress. My grandmother was the closest person in my life and she gave me her wedding ring at my high school graduation. She passed way last March and I wear her ring everyday. Without a doubt I am wearing her ring but luckily it fits me!
