I can't believe they left Pins in the dress!

    ~ bookmarked ~

This video will be popping up a lot more. thank you!

Oh wow Jamila - thanks for sharing this! It's a good warning to our brides to be extra careful with this choice.

Just out of curiousity, does WW intend to continue accepting advertising from Chinese knockoff companies like Light in the Box?

I saw that on TV this a.m. and told my hubby "That's what the brides discuss on WW."

It has been discussed on the Pros Forum also. Stealing dress designs is stealing -- from the US and from the designers.

Shannon with a great question that appears not to be answered. Shocker.

Glenn/Shannon/Etc.- The question has been answered, repeatedly. WW cares about profits, which comes from advertising. They don't care one bit about the brides on this site, and they've proven repeatedly. As long as the advertisers check clears, they're happy.

Why do you think they keep removing valid poor reviews of vendors? Don't get me wrong- we have some great vendors on this site. But many of the crappy ones (not even licensed, not delivering on contract items, etc) remain, with high scores and Bride's Choice awards...

The best thing we can do for new brides is to give them all the WW details. This is a great resource, and can help you find alot of information. But it's far from a one stop shop for all your planning needs. You still gotta do plenty of outside research.

When i tried on my Alfred Angelo dress (brand new) for the first time, they left a pin in it but we found it once it was on and the consultant immediately found what was poking me and removed it... and apologized but I was kind of taken back by that. and that wasn't a chinese knockoff... but that's kind of off topic... just making a point to Hayley's comment, that even non-knockoffs can have issues too.

But just watched the clip, and to be clear, for me it was just ONE pin and the dress was in perfect condition and was finished lol

Sorry all, I actually didn't see Shannon's question until now -

We HAVE removed 'vendors' such as 'goodgoodschina' from our vendor catalog. I took a look and don't see even one approved 'light in the box' listing on WW .... do you have a link you could shoot over to me? You know my email address Smiley smile

@Meghan - You're exactly right! WeddingWire is just one site for your vendor search. Every engaged couple should utilize various research platforms when planning their wedding.

I know this has been discussed before - but WeddingWire does not 'remove' valid reviews of vendors, postitive or negative. The dispute process has been discussed here, but if you have any lingering questions, I'd be happy to elaborate! The last bride who brought this up DID have her negative review returned to the vendor's storefront at the end of the investigation. One of the great things about our site is that we DO offer the opportunity to verify reviews.

We know how important reviews are to both brides and vendors, therefore we try to maintain a fair and transparent system. The verification process helps to give our reviews and ratings platform a little more credibility than other sites that never verify reviews, in my opinion. This goes both ways of course - protecting brides from vendors who may unfairly use our system to write reviews for themselves.

But again, its definitely best to use multiple resources when planning for your wedding! It will never hurt to do more research Smiley smile

Isn't the dispute process the same on all websites? Someone posts a bad review and then they have to validate that the person they are leaving a bad review for was their actual vendor (copy of contract, etc.) I know on weddingbee someone didn't respond to the email within 72 hours and her bad review got taken down until she proved that she contracted that vendor.

    Hi Christina,

One of the ads I get quite frequently on the right-hand side of the forum is from Light in the Box. It's not a listing in the vendor area, it's an advertisement.

The issue brides have with the reviews is that poor reviews, even when substantiated, are yanked for "review" and then never heard from again. I've seen that happen far more times than the one example you cite of a negative review being returned.

    Hi Christina ~

This is one of the sites that was mentioned in the video/article. And the advertisement is on WW.

I'm sure if I refresh enough, I will get a Light in the Box one too.

I'm very glad that this report surfaced; one of my brides went this route last year, only to have her dress delivered two weeks before her wedding in a completely different size than what she ordered. She was absolutely frantic. Thankfully, we knew a great seamstress and she did walk down the aisle dressed, but the level of stress was indescribable.

As for WW and reviews, I can tell you that poor reviews stay if they are validated (not that I personally have any, lol.....). If a couple has a problem with a vendor, they just need to prove that their wedding actually happened and happened with that vendor.

As for vendor vetting, this is something that us vendors have been requesting for years. Having brides mistrust the vendors they find here, whether they are sidebar ads or featured vendors, casts a bad light on the rest of us who try so hard to do great work for our couples.
