Godzilla themed wedding ideas?

Charlene, on January 27, 2023 at 8:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello everyone, I just got engaged over the holidays. We met on a Godzilla discord and later met in person at a convention so Godzilla is a huge part of our relationship. I want to incorporate it into my wedding, so I am looking for idea about what I can do for a Godzilla theme.

Here is what I have so far:

November 3rd 2024 is the 70th anniversary of Godzilla so we are having our wedding on that weekend

Walking down the aisle to the Mothra theme song

I plan to have a butterfly veil and wear a necklace of Mothra's crest

I want a bouquet to be like Biollante and have red roses with some viney foliage cascading to give the same vibes

First dance will be the credit song to the third Heisei era Gamera movie

Our wedding entrance will be the Godzilla theme

I found this picture of a dragonfly cake that I like except that instead of dragonflies, it is Megaguirus's swarm

My husband wants a mechagodzilla groom's cake

The best man who is also a huge Godzilla fan wants to dress up as Jet Jaguar, at least for the reception

We found a geeky cocktail blog and we found some Godzilla themed cocktails for our signature cocktails

Gamera and Godzilla cake toppers where they are dressed up as Bridezilla and Groomera

The table centerpieces will be themed around the various Godzilla monsters. We will probably be using figures from our personal Godzilla figure collections.

I want the bridesmaid dresses to look like one of the many dresses the twin guardians of Mothra wear

Have my Save the Dates and invites be based on some old Godzilla movie posters

I can't think of any other ideas, but what else can I do to make my wedding more Godzilla-y

I think there are plenty of godzilla ideas. Unless you want a super huge godzilla statue looming over your venue. Happy planning!

Instead of a welcome sign, you could have a movie poster made that looks like the Godzilla movie poster, but tweeked to include you and your spouse. The release date on the poster could be your wedding date. You could hang it at the entrance of the venue, like they do at movie theaters.

Also, I would caution against using any toys from your own collection (unless you don’t mind them getting broken or turning up missing)

Instead of table numbers, you could name each table after some thing from the movie

You could also name a signature drink after the movie.
And if you wanted to get real creative, you could create menu cards for the tables where you name each course after something from the movies.

Haha, of course I am not going to use the really expensive ones from our collections, those are still sealed in their boxes anyways. I did do some searching and found someone on Etsy that makes figures of buildings that scale to our figures that could be incorporated. Also I remember a Godzilla youtuber talking about some Mexico based toymakers that do fan made figures that can probably make figures of characters that we don't have figures of that we are comfortable using in our centerpieces too.

Anyways, I just though of another idea. Maybe we can have wedding favors be candies from a local candymaker in little containers that look like the Oxygen Destroyer from the first Godzilla movie. I would just need to find some little plastic tubes that you can fit candy in to decorate.

Yeah, maybe I am a bit too carried away. It's been about a month since we got engaged so we have been brainstorming a lot.

Cake toppers and custom invitations are the easiest to customize to any theme.
