Gift idea for kids/blended family?

Mindi, on July 9, 2017 at 11:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My 21yo daughter will be my maid of honor. My 10yo son my...attendant(?). His 19yo bio son best man. His 23yo stepson groomsman. We want to give them a token of love for being wedding party AND blended family. Small budget. Necklaces? Other ideas?? We'd prefer they are the same style/quality, except switched wording for things like son or daughter, mom or dad if they are maybe the stamped necklaces or some thing similar. Any ideas appreciated!! I like the idea of doing something that symbolizes family. My fiance and I are huge Disney fans, so in your situation we would probably get them all something that says "ohana means family". Maybe instead of getting everyone the same time of gift, we would get everyone a different type of gift that says the same thing since we'd be going with a more generic quote.

Regardless of which direction you go, you can find tons of cute ideas on etsy! Most Esty shops will do custom orders if you want them to just change the wording or something.

We will be doing the blended family thing next year as well. And all 4 kids as the wedding party. BUT we aren't giving them gifts. They will be 12-19 in ages and don't care or know about wedding gifts. Not to mention we are paying for all their attire and there's no bachelorette or bachelor parties they are hosting. So basically giving a gift to say "thanks for doing all this and forking out the money in clothes" isn't relevant.

Your kids range in 10-23 and I'm not sure any guys will be interested in jewelry and something a 10 yr old would like a 23 yr old probably won't.

Perhaps a 4X6 framed pic of each kid with bride and groom from that day. Just the kid and parents. Something that's just for them.

Search for 'family unity pendants' which will work for either gender and any age.

For my beach weddings, the boys sometimes get a sharks' tooth pendant and the girls a pearl pendant.

The "ohana" suggestion is funny. My daughter and 2 of her cousins (all adults) got "Ohana" tattoos on our family trip in June!
