We finally got around to sanding all of the pieces! If you decide to make one, I suggest not sanding in the sun on an 85 degree day, I'm a little sun burnt, 16 days before the wedding :/ Oh well, it's AWESOME! We of course had to test it out too Directions I followed:...

Directions I followed: http://community.homedepot.com/t5/Playdate-Projects/Building-a-Giant-Jenga-Game/td-p/48259

-We bought eight 8' sections instead of the four 16' ones. Made it easier to bring home in a car haha

-Don't be afraid to pick out the 'good' ones at the store: find ones that are already pretty smooth with as little knots as possible.

-It says sand the corners, but I would sand any part that isn't pretty smooth. You don't want to get splinters! We also sanded every edge so they were rounded.

-I suggest not painting them, or even staining them. Think about paint outside: in the sun, it tends to get tacky. That would make for one hard jenga game with sticky pieces.

TOTAL COST: Less than $25 for the wood

    Nice!

our very favorite wedding gift is a giant jenga set that our friends had each block branded with our initials. it's amazing. :o)

also - you might want to consider this - i saw a couple that had it at their wedding and had their guests write messages on the blocks for them. SO CUTE.

Nope. I think alternative 'guestbooks' are cute, but I don't really like them personally. What if the jenga got ruined, or we wanted to sell it? What do I do with a giant signed wine bottle, or a poster with thumbprints after a year or so? Or signed rocks (which I've seen)?. That is not decor I want in my house forever. Plus, I hate clutter.

Nope- we are doing a scrapbook. We will always have books and a bookshelf. We are both avid readers, and even with kindles, we still get real books sometimes. The guestbook will forever safely be there for me to pull out easily when I want to. Smiley smile

OMG that's amazing! Are you planning on playing it in grass or on some type of solid floor? I am so jealous. If i had enough time, i totally would have done that

I really love this idea! I really wanted to do it, but the wedding is an hour away from where I love and as it is we have 3 truckloads of stuff to bring with us there. I can't wait to see pics of the guests enjoying this!
