Getting your wedding dress wet/dirty

WKC, on May 22, 2017 at 5:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Im thinking about doing my bridals in some sort of body of water. A waterfall, the river, etc. Has anyone done this and how did your dress do?!

I really would not do this until after the wedding.

I wouldn't do this until after the wedding. It is called a "trash the dress" photoshot for a reason.

Like PP said, I would refrain from doing this until after you've worn the dress on the occasion you bought it for. You can buy a cheaper white dress if you want to do portraits before.

Did you hear about the bride who drowned in a river in her wedding dress? Yeah, don't do this.

I second the "trash the dress" aspect, though even so I wouldn't want to actually trash my dress, it's beautiful.

Bad idea! One of the exclusive dry cleanerscleaners that I called in New York City said they wouldn't even touch the dress to clean it if I was in salt water or water because some damage will never come out.

I looked up photos.. I can't imagine trashing a dress that fell in love with that I would wear to marry the man I love. No thanks.

Honestly I have no idea why on earth anyone would want to do this. I am so precious of my dress.

I wouldn't chance it either. I would hate if something happened to it.

It was raining lightly during our wedding and photographer had us outside on covered porch. At one point we had to walk to another door in the light rain with ground being wet. DH laughed so hard. Here I am hiking up my dress and gathering it up so it didn't get dirty while I ran to the door. (I am not a runner, let alone run in a dress type of person).
