Getting Rid of Old Bridesmaid Dress - Would That Upset You?

Would you be offended if you found out one of your friends was getting rid of the dress she wore as your bridesmaid? I'm a terrible liar so if she ever asked about it she'd find out right away. I don't want to offend/upset her, but I hate having things around that serve virtually zero use.

I was a bridesmaid in a DW wedding in DR last year, I hated my dress, & left it in the hotel (the lady who took care of our room loved it). My GF could careless and I honestly don't care what my girls do with theirs once the wedding is over.

One of my BMs was talking about reselling hers that was a style she picked herself, before our wedding even took place. It didn't bother me at all and I thought she was realistic and resourceful. I've never reused a BM dress.

I can't imagine asking any of my girls what they did with their dresses. Donate or sell it and if she does ask for whatever reason tell her you donated/sold it.

@Mary, why? Do you expect the BM to frame it or something? Wear it on your wedding anniversary? Repurpose it as a blanket? I have questions.

Seriously, why would it upset you?

Donate or give to a consigment store. No sense in throwing out something in perfectly good condition.

FYI: You can donate all used clothes as well. You don't have to throw them out

I don't think I'd be offended. If my MOH gave hers away yes, because I want it lol. It's a pretty dress not that I would wear it for anything though lol.

I wouldn't mind at all. Personally I'm all for donating or selling them.

No. Get rid of it and don't feel bad about it. I hope she is too busy being a happily married woman to worry about a dress that you paid for.

Definitely not. Maybe if you called it ugly, but in reality we all know no one keeps these things

Everybody gets rid if their bridesmaid dresses for the most part. As cute as they are, most look like bridesmaid dresses, are in a color you don't normally wear, or are not fit for events you usually go to.

Even with gifts, I don't care what people do with them. Though I do sometimes say that if they can't use something try to donate it to someone who can.

My bet is she won’t even ask. It’s never been an issue for me.

Wouldn't care. Mind you, this dress you paid for. It is yours and you could do what you like with it.

Now, I wouldn't enter the ugliest bridesmaid dress ever competition in it, that might offend her, but other than that, do what you like, it is your dress.

Just curious, would it change things if she had paid?

I dont think so, i mean wtf.. why would you have to keep it? You wore it for what it was bought for and now you dont need it.
