Getting ready location for the wedding

Marina, on October 31, 2019 at 11:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hello! I'm having a little bit of trouble choosing a spot to get ready with my bridesmaids for my wedding and need some opinions. We're getting married at a winery about 40 minutes away - I can only use the (very small) bridal suite there one hour before the wedding.

We can either get ready at my apartment (40 minutes away), my parents house (35 min away) or one of my bridesmaids parents house (20 minutes away). I was planning on doing my bridesmaids parents house because its the closest, but my mom will not be able to make it there before the wedding to get ready with us (this stinks, but isn't a deal breaker for me because she'll meet us at the venue) and hair is going to cost a little more because its farther out and a fee kicks in. How important is it to get ready near your venue? To me, it feels like it would be much more convenient to get ready closer to the venue (we're doing a first look there as well, and we won't have access to the suite yet so I do have to put my dress on prior). Sorry this is long!

My daughter rented a conference room at the hotel where we were all staying. It was big enough to accommodate everyone and she could order food from them or they allowed us to bring in our own. We brought in Panera. The 2 HMUAs were able to set up stations. Worked out great and the fee wasn’t bad at all. It was a 30 minute drive to the church where they did their first look but only 10 minutes from the reception venue.

I choose the closest option to my wedding venue personally but my mom is going to be there with me , it's definitely more convenient to get ready closer to the venue so u also have a bit more time and since the mua costs more the further away that should also go into account !

If there is a hotel in the area I would see if you could rent a room there. That would be fun for you and your girls to get ready and relax for the day.

I got an airbnb for me and my bridesmaids to stay in the night before the wedding, and to use the day of the wedding for getting ready

Unfortunately our venue is kind of in the middle of no where and the closest hotel is further than my bridesmaids parents house. Smiley sad

Thank you! I'm leaning towards my bridesmaids parents house for convenience.

I was just in a wedding like this. What we did was hair and make-up at her parents house. She got us all matching pjs. We wore those for hair and make-up and then rode to the venue in the pjs. Then we just changed at the venue because the space was limited for getting ready. It was so so fun!

That's so fun! So my issue is that we have plenty of space at my bridesmaid's parents house or my parents house, but we can't get into our venue until one hour before so we need to be fully dressed by the time we get there.
