Getting our wedding photos back?

We hired a photographer based on recommendations from this site. We were told 8-10 weeks to get photos back. It's now been 13 and I'm unable to get anything from them other than "we are slowly working on it". There was no deadline written into the contract and we paid them in full at the wedding (with a tip i now fully regret). Does anyone have some advice? I've not been too pushy yet because I worry they will just decide to refund us and not give us any photos.

You’re at the photographer’s mercy since it isn’t in the contract. I would ask them for a guaranteed delivery date, then get more firm in your messages if you don’t receive the photos by the deadline.

Since your contract didn't have that verbiage, you're kind of SOL. I'd ask them for a firmer date and follow-up every so often until then.

I got married the same month as you and was told that oftentimes it takes 2-4 months to get pictures back, so you still have time before they're really "late."

I've been trying to get a more firm deadline from them for a month and they won't give it. Just say please be patient we are "slowly working on it". 8 weeks ago she had said they would "hopefully be done in 2 weeks". I don't see how they are so grossly underestimating the time it takes to complete our photos and worry we are just being put off. I was hoping to find a way to push them to action short of taking them to small claims court.

What if you asked them for batches of photos? e.g. the ones they have finished editing already so that you at least get some while waiting for more
