Getting offers for things only two months away from the wedding!

Lindsey, on March 14, 2021 at 2:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
My wedding is in 2 months. My grandfather just mentioned to me that he would like to take me to a florist to talk about getting a floral arch and potentially some other floral decor around the place and he wants to pay. It was my dream to have a beautiful floral arch for the ceremony but unfortunately just was not in my budget. Now I’m so worried we aren’t going to be able to find someone with such short notice!! I have a florist for my bouquet but they don’t really do weddings (not arrangements like a floral arch and things) so we’re going to have to look for someone. Has anyone successfully found a florist with such short notice ?!

No, not a florist. However my brother's wedding, his wife didn't think about hair and makeup so I was talking to my mom about it about 6 weeks before the wedding and it apparently slipped his wife's mind since she doesn't really wear makeup. I was maid of honor and my sister was a bridesmaid and we both definitely wanted our hair and makeup professionally done. When I mentioned that my brother's wife suddenly realized she also wanted her hair and makeup done professionally as well so I started researching places to go. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a salon that could accommodate my sister, mom, his wife, her mom, and myself so her mom and her went one place and my mom, sister and I went to another. It wasn't ideal, but we made it work and we all looked great! I don't think it will be impossible, but it will definitely be more difficult. My brother and his wife live in a small town which meant there were less options so depending on where you live you might have more options. One issue you could also run into is that a lot of vendors request elusive rights to be the only vendor to provide whatever service they offer so you might have to hire the new florist to also provide your bouquets.

Yes. Our venue has an all inclusive package that we signed up for which includes $400 for flowers. I made an appointment for January back
September for us to look at flowers. When I called to confirm our appointment, I was told they’re no longer working with our venue. I was able to make another appointment with a different florist very quickly. Our wedding is on 4/3/21 & the appointment was on 2/5.

Look on Thumbtack.com or Instagram. Most of those are lesser known vendors with more availability

I think it depends where you live. We had a four month engagement and had no problem finding vendors—we got married in Orlando, a not small city that does a lot of event business. Use Thumbtack or the vendor search option here. Be prepared to widen your search area if you’re in a small town and pay a travel fee.
Also, if you and your grandfather are not opposed, there are super talented people on Etsy who could possibly accommodate a rush job to make a faux floral arch.

Renting an arch from the florist will be less expensive. Also you don't save money by transporting/storing/reselling the arch or other furniture if you won't be keeping it.

Yes...if she can find a florist. The Etsy suggestion was for the very real possibility she can’t find a florist on short notice, which was what her question concerned...

We used Budget Bride for our fake flowers, which is always a back up if you can't find a florist on short notice.
