So I didn't want to get married on a Friday I wanted to get married on a Saturday but nearly every venue charges way more money for Saturday ceremony and food prices Smiley sad. In order to save a lot of money we opted for Friday. I'm worried that our guests won't make it because of work. We are starting the ceremony at 6:00pm. Should we move it to 6:30? Aahh I'm stressing out.

I'm getting married on a Friday too, because as a lot of you have already said, it is cheaper. Another reason I'm getting married on a Friday is because our venue would have had to charge us for an open bar, and we want to have a cash bar.

We are getting married on Friday too. Our wedding starts at 5:30pm, we sent out STDS for all our anticipated guests. Every one who loves us, will have enough time to adjust their schedules to make it to our wedding. Heck, Friday nights have always been the best night for partying. Don't sweat the small stuff, your guest are grown & will make it work.

I hear the cheap thing don't get me wrong but I honestly went into my planning knowing that I wanted to get married on a Friday. I have gone to several weddings and with the Saturday weddings I always spent Sunday exhausted and recovering (even when I only went as a guest and especially if we had to travel) and work on Monday was brutal. I did not want to do this to my guests.

We are getting married on Friday at 5pm (so yes they will have to take time off of work and I might actually close down my whole office!) and that way all of our guests will have Saturday to recover and Sunday to still have a weekend. Unintentionally we also managed to pick Columbus day weekend so all of our guests will have a super long weekend and I have to use one less vacation day for our honeymoon!!!

I'm a Friday bride too and not because it was cheap but because the venue I am having my wedding at has a guest minimum and guest minimum for a Saturday is 250 and my guest list is only 115 I sent out STD's this month which is 7 months in advance so I am hoping to have an atleast 85% acceptance rate

I'm glad to see that Friday weddings a popular here!

I'm getting married on a Friday as well....Black Friday at that! My fiancé and I never worried about it though, because as previous posters have said, the ones who want to be there will find a way! Luckily, we have had an outstanding 'yes' RSVP rate!!

We're doing a Friday night. It's all at the same place and we are doing a 6:30 ceremony and then 7-midnight reception. It was 50% for the rental of the place. On top of that, every vendor has been available. It may be that some people can't make it or have to be late, but I'm not going to sweat it. It wasn't worth paying almost $2000 more for the exact same thing.

I'm having a Friday wedding too, Black Friday on top of it. To ease your anxiety send out your Save The Dates as early as possible. I did that and specifically put Friday November 29th so people wouldn't overlook the day of the week. It will be fine, last time I checked everyone loves an excuse to leave the office early especially on a Friday!!

@Kristin don't worry! I too was worried but the lovely ladies helped me feel so much better. They told me that the people who truly want to be there will be there. period. Plus between save the dates and invitations, we are telling people multiple times in advance. This gives them plenty of time to make arrangements. If one of your closest friends or family members were having a wedding on a Friday, you would make arrangements to attend right? well the people who truly love you and want to celebrate with you will do the same for you Smiley smile

We didn't get married on a Friday, but we had our at-home reception on one. I think most local people will be able to get there on time if they come after work. It's more of an issue for out of town guests, but the ones for whom it is really important will be there, anyway.

And let's face it, no matter when you have your wedding, it will be a problem for someone. We carefully took into account 100 different factors in picking the day for our reception, but a bunch of friends had to miss it because it was the weekend of the Avon Walk.

We wanted to have our wedding on Halloween, and it was supposed to be this year. if my memory serves, that was going to be a thursday! Smiley smile but we changed to next year, so my wedding will be on a Friday now too Smiley smile

give people lots of time to work things out at their work if need be. I wouldn't worry about it too much, Friday weddings are getting more and more common from what I'm seeing.

I'm getting married on Sunday, cheaper prices and our venue was booked on Saturday. I think Friday-Sunday are acceptable days for weddings. We had friends get married on a Thursday, with the ceremony starting at 4pm! It was probably one of the most hectic days of my life. Me and FH don't get off work usually until then, so it was creative planning on our part...

I'm having a thursday day time wedding, and the people I care about will be there, and I don't care if anyone else shows up.

We were between Friday and Sunday over Columbus day weekend next year. We're going with Sunday because Friday wasn't available at my venue. Plus I like the date 10-12-14! No one has given me slack over it yet.

Not sure if this works on your timeline but you can have it the Sunday if holiday weekends (I am using Labor Day weekend) and about half of the venues will still let you use the Sunday price and everyone is off on the holiday Mon
