Getting married in Germany in August

Jane, on April 7, 2020 at 2:18 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2

Hello. I am currently living in Korea and planning on having a wedding in August.

With the COVID-19 outbreak situation in Germany right now, I am starting to wondering whether I should change my wedding date. 😭

Anyone in Germany right now? How's the situation?

I'm in Germany! It's really fine, here. BUT we have really strict rules and a wedding is at the moment impossible. These rules are currently only in place until April 19th, but nobody really knows how this whole thing will develop. It also depends a bit on where in Germany you want to get married. The rules are a little stricter in the south for example. But before you go and postpone I would wait a month or so to see how everything is developing.

    Hi Jane,

I'm so glad that Fenja responded above! It's valuable to hear from people who are experiencing these strange conditions in different places first-hand.

Have you reached out to your venue to check in? They may be better equipped to help you with an update on how things are going and how they're handling postponements.

I'm truly sorry that you're going through this. Postponing your wedding is not an easy decision, and it's tougher when it's not your call. WeddingWire has gathered some resources here: COVID-19 Wedding Support Central, including What to Do If You Have to Cancel Your Destination Wedding and (just in case) You’ve Decided to Postpone Your Wedding. Now What?

    Good luck! Smiley heart
