Getting married in 8 days dress still doesn't fit!

Julia, on June 25, 2018 at 9:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I have had my dress altered three times and the last time let out a bit. I picked it up a few days ago, tried it on just now and wow do I look bloated! I am beginning to think there is nothing that the seamstress can do, it is just a very unforgiving material. I have tried every pair of spanx imaginable and nothing helps, just adds more bulk. I have been working out like crazy and eating extremely healthy but I am getting my period ON MY WEDDING DAY, so i look and feel bloated. What should I do, my wedding is in 8 days! I want to feel beautiful walking down the aisle and in this dress I feel awful Smiley sad

I recommend a corset. Those have worked for centuries.

I think you look fine from what i can see. Drink plenty of water! I’m sorry your period is coming on your wedding day.

I’m sorry about that. Did you spoke with the bridal boutique that sold you that dress and see what they suggest? You can try on undergarments that will go with that particular style.
I hope everything works out for you.

The back is open so it it very difficult to find undergarments that don't show.

AVOID: sugar, carbs, salt, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, milk, and brussel sprouts
    (they all cause bloating)

EAT: foods with high levels of protein, potassium, magnesium, and calcium (examples: protein almond milk, salmon, nuts, tomatoes, bananas) (they all help relieve bloating)

other things that might help are drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, and taking an anti-inflammatory for bloating.

I think you look amazing by the way!!!

Add an extra layer around the waist such as lace, tool, or something flowy. It will help camouflage if needed.

First of all, you look beautiful! But if you’re concerned about bloating (and I just did this because I wanted to get rid of bloating and my belly pouch....) but substitute 2 meals a day with a protein based shake, no gluten, no processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, no eating after 6, no dairy (except eggs) and you can eat meat. I did it for 10 days and everyone at work noticed a difference in clothes, body, etc. so did FH and he’s loving it! Afterwards, you can add stuff in, but I’m actually eating pretty well now because of and probably have 1 shake a day now, sometimes I eat all my meals, but I’m continuing with it cuz it made me feel good! Had lots of energy too!! Good luck....you look amazing!!!

Also, don’t forget to stand nice and tall and her perfect posture! It makes a huge difference and we often forget that it’s how we are suppose to stand.

Anyway don’t go crazy. Everything will workout. Drink lots of water and relax! You are gorgeous

I think you look fine, however, we are our biggest critic. Don't slouch, drink plenty of water, and try a corset.

I think a corset will show through that material. You look wonderful, but if you feel bloated definitely cut out salt and drink plenty of water.

Avoid salt, and drink lots of water! Maybe spend each morning doing sit ups to help tone the area a bit!

Okay so I went through a similar situation at my first fitting, only my dress wouldn’t even go over my thighs. I had lots of bloating and a little weight gain. I took a closer look at my diet, made some changes, and now feel better than ever! Here are the key things I did:

-drink water (3 bottles minimum daily is what I’ve been having)
-take a magnesium supplement ... it helps with digestion and bloating
-do not have any added salt
-no carbs or sugary food at all
-healthy nuts for snacks (I’ve been having almonds)
-no meat, only veggies and protein from egg, portobello, or leafy greens

I made these changes and dropped all my water weight in 7 days to the extent that my dress fit and was loose on top. I also just got my period again a month later and I wasn’t expecting it because I literally had no normal bloating.

Do you have on underwear? Looking at how I look in a dress for work versus when I ditched the undies for our engagement shoot is a world of difference. Depending on where the undies hit you they can definitely cause extra pooch. Maybe a thinner seamless pair for the wedding since you are on your period? I agree that something on your stomach won't work because of the back.

I recently had surgery and had to wear an abdominal binder to ease swelling. I just got my period and was super bloated and was worried because I have my final fitting tomorrow so I started wearing it again and it's working awesome for the bloat as well! It's basically like a waist trainer and you can get them online or most walmarts carry them. I'd wear it as much as possible until it's time to put your dress on. Sleep with it on, try to wear it all day everyday leading up to the wedding. Also like other posters said, cut out things that can make bloat worse and drink lots of water. Take a diuretic if you can.

Take some Aleve to decrease inflammation and bloating Smiley smile I think you look great. Do not take diuretics. That is very dangerous and can really lower your potassium to dangerous levels.

    YOUU LOOK AMAZING!
I will add my advice for what worked for me.
I can not believe how amazing this worked for me. Apple cider vinegar water!! I mix in a gallon jug of water;2 ounces of ACV, 2 fresh squeezed lemons and then top off with water. Leave a little gap for mixing. I prefer mine cold, some like it room temp. I drank 1-12 oz. Glass in the am and again evening. You'll be going to the bathroom a lot to begin with, but that's good. This not only hydrates you but the ACV also works on bloat as well as other benefits. Start today, you'll be amazed at what it does in a short time. Also, try a semi-keto style eating. Very low card (no potato, bread, pasta, rice or grains of any kind) good amount of protein and good fats.
