Getting married in 11 days and I have PNEUMONIA!!! FML!!!!

JAB, on September 30, 2014 at 9:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

I've been sick the entire month of September. I thought it was allergies at the beginning of the month but then I began to run a low grade fever. I've been taking Mucinex for 10 days and it's not getting any better.

I found out via FB that my nieces and nephews have all had pneumonia! The same ones that don't give me a choice on having a bed full of kiddos and sleepovers every time I'm in town…………and I got sick right after a visit!

Is it too much to ask that they tell me, esp when they know I can't seem to get over my cold…….I would've gone to the dr last week and probably be better by now!

I'm so sorry, JAB. Can you get in to the doctor today, even to an urgent care? You'll want to get checked out and (if it is pneumonia) get some prescription meds for it ASAP. Feel better soon, I'm wishing you a speedy recovery!

Pneumonia can be bacterial or viral - I really hope it's bacterial, because antibiotics are useless against viral pneumonia... that's why you need to get checked out FAST. Antibiotics will clear it up if it's that type, but viral takes 1-3 weeks to clear on its own. If it is viral, it should clear by the time of your wedding as the virus naturally peters out, but still best to be under a doctor's care.

Get to a doctor NOW! Hopefully, this did not go on long enough to be double pneumonia. Get better soon!

The doctor insists I have bronchitis and it will clear up in a week or two…..it's been going on the entire month of September! Bronchitis is what the kids had first too. Dangit! At least I got an inhaler, maybe it will help somewhat!

Oh god bronchitis is the freaking WORST! you just have to REST, REST, REST! i have had it twice and honestly resting and not doing anything is what got me through it. i know that's hard since you have this wedding to plan but just try to rest as much as you can, drink plenty of fluids, and you will be good to go! good luck!!

I would go to a Doctor today. That way if you do have it (hopefully not) you have at least 10 days to get better. ((HUGS)) feel better soon!

Pneumonia is usually a secondary condition to bronchitis, laryngitis, or strep throat. You really need to get to the doctor asap because it can get worse within a matter of hours (if you actually do have pneumonia). If you start on an antibiotic now it should be cleared up by your wedding day. Get well soon!

Yep, what everyone else said - get thee to the doctor. Antibiotics will be key if you have pneumonia, bronchitis, or strep. I had pneumo in July of 2013 and it knocked me on my butt for months. If you get on the meds now, though, you'll have a much better chance of making it through the day.

Especially if you have ANY shortness of breath, go now!

So glad I went to the doctor! I feel much better, although still coughing slightly.

I'll be back in our hometown for the wedding beginning this weekend so I'm seeing my doctor there for a followup.

That SUCKS. I have been drinking lots of water, washing my hands like crazy, taking vitamin C every day, and getting extra sleep. I'll be damned if I get sick before this wedding! I don't have any extra time to take off work if I do! Hope you feel better soon!
