The fiancé and i have a lot on our plates right now. he received a promotion and we're moving a few months before our (non-religous) ceremony in september. to make things easier for the move in the eyes of his company, we could legally get married to help with car transport, moving stipend etc. getting legally married before the ceremony also helps with my insurance situation. have any of you brides been in this situation or are dealing with it now? will getting legally married at the courthouse (with no rings, exchange of vows, not telling friends/family etc) before the ceremony take away from the actual ceremony and celebration? if we go with this plan, our wedding date will still and always be the day of our ceremony- 9/27/14. please help!

Bennett, I'm at Fort Belvoir. Mission Installation Contracting Command - MICC. I'm a Contracting Officer. I actually was a huge part of awarding the Air Force Microsoft contract. Y'know that computer you work on every day? You have Windows, Outlook, and Office, thanks to me :-). You're welcome. I loved working with the AF. Might make it my home someday.

I think I'm being catty but I'd like to see Sunshine and Jackie start a discussion saying how lame or that people are lying, but I suggest you ladies do it in the vein of pregnancy...oooohwee...

sometimes it's good to give an opinion but it's ALWAYS good to maintain respect for the person you're giving the opinion to and not accuse or insult them

Lol :-P I'm on my couch thank you very much! And I spent all day at my daughters dance competition so there! I go to work when I want and still get my paycheck every 1st and 15th lol.

Naw but baby's good. I'm the miserable one. He's growing ahead while my body is slowly withering away leaving no room to eat (when I try), sit, or breathe lol. 2 more months!

I completely agree with Sunshine. Do not hide this or lie to your guests about the fact that you're already married. They will not actually be witnessing your marriage since you'll already be married.

That's the EXACT reason we got married. The D Word.

Deployment creeps up on us way too often. We couldn't wait one more second to be husband & wife.

Oh, my renewal dress is poofy as all hell.

@Emily, you'd be singing a different song if YOUR situation dictated pre-ceremony marriage. She may be in a tough spot with telling her family...give her constructive advice that will help her rather than saying she's lying and hiding...

Hmm what would you tell the person who has cancer and wants to do pre-ceremony marriage (rhetorical)

Oh CNN you're talking about my 'suggestion' comment? meaning suggest they start a discussion about getting pregnant before marriage and folks who want to wait till after they've gotten married to say they are preggers...would make for a very BAD discussion to call them lame or liars...

my whole point being on this forum sometimes opinions go too far with accusations and/or insults...

I can tell you that no one gives a crap whether you've done a short, legal, 'sign and drive' before hand, and if they do? Screw them.

There is no 'right way' any more.

The thought of wearing spanx makes me want to cry. I swear I can't wear a tshirt. I try to spend my whole day naked. Hell I take my clothes off in the car lol.
