Getting a perm AND highlights before the wedding??

Vjgaff I really like redken anit-snap. Paul Mitchell also makes a great product called hair repair that is a good deep conditioner and adds protein. It's something you rinse out after 10-20 mins. Also don't use a brush when combing wet hair. Use a wide tooth comb or pick. When your hair is welt, and you use a brush on it, it is much more elastic and causes breakage. Regular trims will help too. ETA : normally when your hair is breaking it needs a combination of moisture and protein to correct the issue. You can get a good conditioner but if you aren't adding strength back into it, the conditioner will only help so much.

Talk to your stylist. I got a perm after my wedding. I also normally get highlights. She used a perm that wasn't too harsh and instead of highlighting we did a glaze. My hair is thin and brittle so she didn't want to do too much and cause damage.

Kelly -that's another reason I have been apprehensive. In the past, the majority of my highlights turned an unexpected bright orange (which was fantastic at the time because I was 12 and had an AWESOME sense of fashion and orange hair was the shit), but my mom or dad were always the ones doing it at home, so I figured getting it professionally done would be better. Again though, not something I really want to risk so close to the wedding.

1. Find a good salon/ stylist. Read reviews!

2. Get a consultation.

Please don't get a perm. I've gotten two, and while they've lasted me years at a time they've damaged my hair beyond repair it seems. There are other methods of having your hair hold a curl better but I just think (my personal opinion not professional) that the perm won't help but just make things more difficult. I was never able to straighten or curl my hair when I had my perm.
