Getaway car- worth it? How much are you spending?

Kathleen, on March 1, 2015 at 4:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Sooo, a nice getaway car was never on my list of priorities... until now, 19 days before the wedding, and I imagine how amazing it would be to ride off in a vintage car. I've inquired, and the best price I've found was 3 hours for $440 for a 1956 Bentley. Super nice car! See pic.

I know it's not practical... we don't need it, but it is nice to have and would make for some pretty awesome pictures. But $440 for a couple shots? Is it worth it?

If you don't mind me asking, is there anyone else planning to drive off in a vintage car and how much are you spending?

We aren't doing vintage, but we are spending $600 for our limo for the whole day. We were just going to use it for transporting the wedding party to the reception, but since we get it until midnight, might as well get that extra use out of it and get a trip to the hotel after our sparkler exit. Might as well get the most use for our money (plus, I don't want any of the wedding party "decorating" my vehicle - it's my baby, nobody touches it but me and I know FH's GMs won't listen to me on that - and the limo company doesn't allow it, so I win on that! haha)

I think vintage cars look amazing in pictures! Though with that price...it isnt something you need. Would you rather have 2-3 nice pics with a vintage car, or almost $500 extra for your honeymoon? I ended up stalking an antique car show in my town and asked the owner of a nice looking car if I could borrow it for an hour to take pics with. He loves the idea and is going to drive it over to my venue after the ceremony to take some pics with before it gets dark. Only catch is it cannot rain that day...

We are leaving in a convertible 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air inherited from his Grandfather which he's having restored. This is not his car, but I'm posting so you'll get an idea of what the car looks like. His is turquoise of silver.

We were able to add a limo for 10 passengers to come back and get us and the bridal party for $125 and transport us to the hotel so we did that
