Gender Neutral Wedding Party Attire

James, on March 5, 2020 at 8:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

My partner and I are gearing up for our wedding in October and we're beginning to look at attire for our wedding parties. My "groomspeeps" are a mix of genders and I'm looking for something that will be comfortable for everyone. I'm thinking matching blue pants with brown oxford shoes paired with a white button down, suspenders, and a bowtie. Any other ways that folks make it work for a multi-gendered wedding party?

What about picking a color and giving them options of dress or pants?

That’s exactly what our wedding party wore! The pants look black in this photo, but they’re navy and the bow ties are burgundy.Gender Neutral Wedding Party Attire 1

That's a nice option, however, we want folks to look the same. My friend loves dresses and pants, so I think she'd be flexible. My partner's side doesn't want to wear the typical "bridesmaid" dresses, so they are thinking of doing something similar.

Do you want all of them to match or just look cohesive?

Personally, I wouldn't feel all that comfortable wearing a suit or pants with a button down shirt and suspenders. I would absolutely do it if I was in the wedding party of a dear friend and that is what they wanted, but I would feel way more comfortable if I could wear something a bit more feminine. I think if you pick a color scheme and stick with it, then your groomspeeps can wear a mix of dresses, jumpsuits, pants, etc that all look like they go together while allowing each of them to wear something they truly feel comfortable in.

Edit: Saw that you want them all to look the same. Assuming you have smallish wedding parties and you feel really comfortable with the people in them, I'd have a conversation with them about what you are thinking and see how they react. The goal is to find something you love that they feel comfortable in, so if you can reach that point then you are golden!
