Gazebo diy decor?

Ashley, on February 12, 2018 at 8:17 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21
I’m trying to save on floral (plus I’m not a big floral person) so I’m trying to think of DIY decor I can do. I couldn’t find blank pictures of he venue, so I blocked out the people in the attached pictures. I’m doing feather centerpieces like the ones in the 3rd image that I think I may have double as aisle decor, but any suggestions with the gazebo? Something feathery, maybe? Doesn’t need to be, though. Any suggestions!!

You can make felt flowers in a garland and drape around the top. That is easy. Lots of ideas on etsy. You could also just get greenery and not flowers.

Hmmm, I was going to suggest some type of greenery garland but I truly don’t feel like that goes with feathers.

It doesn’t HAVE to be feathers, that’s just what I’m doing for the centerpieces so I kinda wanted to stick with them, but not if it’s unreasonable 😊 any recommendations on where to find the supplies for that?? Live in south Florida, but have family in Southern California with a floral wholesale license, if that’s something they can do.

I’m not sure what you have for craft stores but if available, I’d recommend michaels. You can buy garlands already put together or do a DIY. For something this big though, I personally would put my trust into a florist to put it together. I’m also thinking as another option you could do some type of scarf wrapped and draped around it and possibly even incorporate the feathers into that somehow? I think drapery would look really beautiful on this and could be the perfect touch.

I would repeat the same element- the ostrich flowers, and cover the dome of the gazebo. Gazebo diy decor? 4

If you add some mini lights, you can get some great pics after dark.

Maybe drape organza or another material and make a sort of arch, you could use the feathers at the points where you tie the material to the poles

Omg that's amazingggg. If I could do that without it being crazy expensive, I'm totally doing this. I was thinking something with feather boas, but I don't think I could without it looking cheap :/

If you have family with any sort of business license they can get feathers or boas for you at wholesale prices. I think you could probably cover the majority of the top with feather boas, then only have ostrich feathers at the edge. You could probably only cover the front half of the dome too, because no one is going to have a view of the back side.

I love this- I'm going to ask the venue if they have pics from previous weddings with this kind of drapery so I can figure out exactly what kind I want- for sure doing this.

Apparently South Florida doesn't have a large crafty population because we have like one Michaels and nothing else- but I'll make the drive over there sometime this weekend!

I think draping with some simple fabric would be nice. Maybe lights or lanterns if it will be in the evening.

If you want a floral option without the extra $$$, you might consider making your own flowers. I'm making coffee filter flowers for my wedding to use as decorations. My reception room is huge and I didn't want to break the bank on flowers to decorate, plus one of my wedding colors is teal and it is very difficult to get flowers in that color. I think I spent about $70-100 on supplies (nearly 800 coffee filters, floral tape and wire stems). There are countless tutorials on how to make the flowers online (especially Pinterest). If you're willing to put in the time and have a crafty side, you might consider it! Here are a few pictures of ones I've made so far.

I think that if you aren't a huge floral person, a great alternative is hanging/draping fabrics! I think that if feathers is a universal part of your décor that you could make feathered centerpieces similar to the floral pieces others use for their arches.

For aisle décor I would suggest pillar like in the one example picture, candles, or more feather pieces.

Best of luck I hope I was able to offer some advice.

So I asked the preferred vendor of the venue for the cost of this exact draping (this is our location) without the floral- $175!!! Uh, no. With your recommendations, I’ll certainly be doing it myself!!
