Garter toss

Gretchen, on September 23, 2016 at 1:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 50

What do you guys think about the garter removal/toss? My fiancee wants to dance to Pony by ginuwine to remove it but isn't that kinda awkward dancing in front of people? I'm just trying to see what other peoples opinions are? Are u leaving it out in ur wedding or doing it?

We are doing it but it will be very tastefully done. There won't be no head up my dress or any of that sort of thing.

So my thought is go for it as long as you can agree on how it's done.

We are skipping it. Personally, it makes me uncomfortable. Especially when the majority of our guests will be family members.

I personally think it's weird and tacky.

We skipped it, and I think Pony is too sexual for a wedding activity and it not be weird.

We did it (along with the bouquet toss). I know a lot of people find it creepy, but I don't think it has be raunchy or over the top. I put the garter on minutes before the toss, and it was below my knee, so H wasn't sticking his head up my dress or removing it with his teeth or anything like that. We also had a lot of single guests and they all seemed to be into it, as evidenced by the mass of dudes lining up to catch it. In fact, the girl who caught the bouquet just so happened to be the dating the guy who caught the garter. We did NOT make him put the garter on her in front of everyone though. However, I consider it a totally skippable tradition, especially if it makes you uncomfortable!

We aren't doing the removal in front of people. (In private en route to reception venue for that)

But we are doing the toss.

No matchy matchup with the bouquet toss receiver though (awkward!).

We are skipping it as well. It's awkward, but also most of the men invited to our wedding are married. FH would only have maybe 1 or 2 people to toss it at. lol

We're not doing garter or bouquet throw/toss. But, like pp has said, it doesn't have to be raunchy and awkward.

I'm not doing it...I think it's really awkward and I definitely don't want my entire family to see my FH with his head up my skirt. Plus, most of the people (men and women) at the wedding will be married soooo there's really no point. I think we'll skip the bouquet throw as well.

We're doing it to Pony too. We're both hams and will probably be drunk by then or at least tipsy. Who cares, don't take yourself so seriously and have fun...

We did the garter toss and bouquet toss. We had lots of singles for both so it was a popular and fun part of the reception. We did not do anything raunchy though (no head up my skirt or anything). We played Let's Get it On.

So awkward. My DJ said garter and bouquet toss have gone to the wayside especially if it's a sophisticated function. If it's more laid back, sure do whatever!! We're not doing either because I'm not throwing my bouquet of peonies anywhere!!
