Garter Toss: Are you keeping or skipping?

The garter toss seems to be a hot button topic these days! Brides/Grooms, are you including this tradition in your reception, modifying it, or skipping? For our wedding we decided to skip the removal and my husband just tossed a separate one we bought (that I didn’t wear) that was Houston Astros...

For our wedding we decided to skip the removal and my husband just tossed a separate one we bought (that I didn’t wear) that was Houston Astros themed because we are big fans!

Were skipping this as well as the bouquet toss, were a little older than the typical wedding party and I feel like most of the single people are our wedding will be children

We decided to do that after our wedding in private it. I know it sou ds odd but I like the tradition but I am also way too shy to do that in public. Also all of our friends are already married.

We don’t have an opinion either way. But we don’t have that many single guests to begin with who would be interested in that or the bouquet tosses, so we are skipping them. However we don’t find them offensive either unless they go completely overboard, which we have never seen in person, though they are prevalent on YouTube. Then again, we haven’t seen them done for at least 10+ years in our circles.

We plan to skip that part. I personally think it’s just too raunchy to be doing it in front of so many people. Hopefully we’ll do something else clean and wholesome.

We're skipping the garter and bouquet toss. My sister skipped both at her wedding and no one noticed. If anything I think everyone appreciated that they got speeches, first/father/mother dances done at the beginning of the reception so that they weren't stopping the eating/mingling/dancing for any of these things

I'm not doing either garter or bouquet tosses. I just think the whole idea is dumb. We don't have many singles either. Not that I would do it if we did.

Not doing either. Never liked highlighting someone being single.

We didn't do this either. Also, no bouquet toss. I have only been to one wedding that had this and I thought it was awkward for everyone.

Skipping it. We are not doing a bouquet/garter toss and we’re not having a ring bearer or a flower girl. Doing nontraditional/traditional (Cutting out a few things but also doing some traditions).

We’re skipping it. There are only three or four single guys that are going to be at our wedding, and one is my teenage stepson and one is my brother. How awkward would it be if either of them were to try and catch the garter? And if they didn’t participate, it would be one or two other guys, which would really put a spotlight on them. We aren’t doing a bouquet toss either, and for the same reason!

I'm not doing the gater toss or the bouquet toss. One, most of my friends and family are married or have a partner. Two, my family are immigrants and don't understand the purpose of throwing a married woman's undergarment to single men.
