Thank you! Yes initially I got the dress when we were planning on having a ceremony at an Airbnb but plans had to change. I got a detachable skirt to cover the sides. Looking into sleeves that will cover up shoulders as well for a modest look.

Hahaha thank you Kenzie!!! But just to have a bit more respect for the church culture itself, I was thinking a more modest look during ceremony part and then removing all of those and stay with the original look of the dress during reception! Thanks for the awesome vibe ✨ ✨

Wow thank you Erin!!! This first thought came to my mind mainly because the dress itself is too sheer hahaha I definitely don’t want to give our priest a heart attack hahaha. I ended up getting a detachable overskirt to go with the dress. And I also have a cathedral veil. I hope that is enough but will bring sleeves in hand juuuuust in case! Thank you girl!

Hahahaha thank you so much Monique!! I am adding an overskirt and will also buy additional sleeves I found on Etsy, just in case! But yes it’s mostly to show respect for the church and their culture. Thanks girl!

That should be fine. Then, rock the original gown at the reception. It really is gorgeous on you!! Good luck!

If your shoulders are also a concern, and that may depend on the church, a simple white satin shawl might be nice. You can use it at the reception if the air conditioning is too much, or if you're outdoors for a long time and it's chilly. I attended a wedding at my Catholic Church not long ago. The bride was extremely curvy. Most of her gown was actually on the floor - very tight, long train, strapless with her ample bosom fairly pouring out of it. I know the priest fairly well, he's been at our church 10 years, and to his credit, his expressions never changed. The organist and I are best friends and she and I were trying hard not to look shocked or amused. The bridegroom was a Marine in his "dress blues" with lots of his buddies there, and quite honestly, I was embarassed for him (my son's a Marine, about the same age). So just be mindful what other folks might think - you can't change how they see you, especially the celebrant, and your bridegroom.

Yes I would do that people may not be as accepting of it but it’s beautiful you can wear a nude slip

Yes absolutely, my first thought was the same! I would hate to give some type of weird “shame” or embarrassment feeling to my family or the priest.

Hi Emma! Not sure if you’ll see this, but I’m in the same predicament as you. Are you selling your sleeves / overskirt by any chance or can you help me source them? Thank you!
