Did anyone struggle sometimes or slip up a lot in the beginning of your engagement and say boyfriend still and then even after being married sometimes say fiance still or did it all come naturally?

Bryce, kind of the same? Well my FH proposed on Christmas with a simple ring and he said he wants to get me a better one but this what he can afford right now. And everyone took that as oh that's a promise ring not an engagement ring. And we are like well no he just wants to give me something better, even though I love this one. 75% of my girl friends will only call it a promise ring. My aunt texted me today calling it a joke. Ugh blah

Coco that's not nice that they do that. Mine bought me a promise ring in Mother's Day of last year. My friends were the opposite and kept insisting I was engaged and kept saying that could totally be an engagement ring and I was like I know I told him I'd take it as one lol. But he said no he knew what eh wanted as an engagement ring for me. And it was worth the few extra month wait to get it. Have u started really planning yet? Maybe once you do they'll take it more seriously.

@becoming well I adore the current ring, he just thought I would think it's too plain. I am encouraging him to focus that money towards a wedding ring but he wants to repropose in a more grand way. We have the date set and a lot else.

I still say boyfriend. FH corrects me all the time. I try though, I'm getting better at it.

ETA being engaged and actually getting married still doesn't feel real to me. Hopefully it will kick in soon.

Coco I totally get it! That's how I felt about mine. Do you have your venue booked?

Coco my FH and I are the same way. I told him not to splurge on a ring because currently he is in nursing school and isn't working that much. I still love my ring though more than anything. To me it wasn't about the ring. We do plan on doing what my parents did and every 5 or so years upgrading my ring. Although who knows I just might keep mine because I don't want to part without it.

Becoming, I'm closing in on a venue. It's beautiful and surprisingly cost effective. About an hour from me. I just need to go have a look see. I don't think I'll lock anything down until beautiful tax return.

Shelly, same!! I adore my man o' mine but it's like he doesn't think of prices for anything. I asked him how much he wanted to spend on my wedding ring for the budget and he was like don't worry about it. Like ugh! I want a nice ring but I much rather save money for some other stuff, you know? I didnt grow up in a rich family so thinking of just spending a bunch of money on jewelry just scares me I think. I'm trying to realize it's not just a piece of jewelry

Shelly I love that! My FMIL has this massive tanzanite ring. She normally wears that instead of her normal ring. It almost looks like costume jewelry bc it's so big lol but it's gorgeous.

Coco, once you have the venue and an actual set date that goes with your venue they'll take it more seriously. I actually got a little upset when FH told me how much he spent on a ring. I've always been very spoiled by my mom with nice designer things but for us and our family (2 kids) I didn't want us to be in debt. I was sending him rings under 2k because I didn't want anything super expensive and something reasonable. Well he spend more then triple that. My heart dropped but grandmother told me I deserve it and I'll have it forever and I wouldn't trade it in for anything else but it wasn't a price tag or size it was what it meant.

That sounds so pretty. I like simple, thin and elegant but then I love those big gaudy cocktail rings lol

I'm guilty of still calling FH, boyfriend. My friends correct me all the time.

Yep. FH got so angry when I slipped up and said boyfriend a few times. I quickly corrected myself and haven't slipped up in a while. I know I will the first month or so that we are married.

At first I felt awkward using the f-word Smiley winking because it sounded kind of pretentious. But I had been waiting to be engaged for 2 of our 3 years together and realized we'd only be engaged for less than a year, so now I throw that word around like it's my job!! Smiley tongue

Coco men never think of prices lol.

For myself I don't wear my actual engagement ring that often because of my line of work I don't want it getting messed up. Instead most the time I just wear the ring he got me for our one year. A ring is a ring, they are pretty and all, but honestly even if he proposed to me without a ring I still would have said yes with no hesitation. I'm just not a huge jewelry person to begin with.

    .

ETA Britt R I feel the same way about calling him fiancé. It makes me feel like I'm bragging in a way, even though I'm not.

@Shelly Yes so many times! Part of me might of liked a necklace more just so I wouldn't lose it. I would adore anything he gave me because he picked it thinking of me.

I call him my boyfriend. I can't get used to fiancé. I don't like the word haha. But when we're married I won't stop calling him my husband ever.
