Friend’s wedding

Sherone, on March 7, 2020 at 5:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14
So a friend of mine is getting married like 2 months before me right, she asked me to be apart of her bridal party I agreed to. So their wedding is at a hotel a very expensive 1 and I have to pay for accommodation, my dress and individual things for her bachelorette party. Seeing that her wedding is June and mine August I told her like I can’t afford to stay at the girl the night before for the bachelorette party because I have to prep for my wedding as well but I’ll get a day pass to attend and take part. For some reason I think she’s upset because I told her the truth, I have my own expenses to cover and I have to work at a budget and doing so is out my budget, why I say she’s upset is because we normally talk on a regular basis now it’s like I don’t exist😔

She’s being super immature if she can’t accept that not everyone has a ton of money to spend on her wedding. You did nothing wrong, just let her get over it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Exactly, it sounds like you’re doing everything you can to participate in things without putting a financial strain on yourself

The hell with her then, especially if she can’t seem to understand that your wedding is right after hers... she’s being selfish!😩

Even if you did not have your own wedding g costs to think about, it is spoiled child behavior to get angry at someone who does not come to an optional party. Bach are not necessary for any members of the wedding party. Nice if they can come. If they can't, see you tomorrow. It should not cost hundreds to attend a Bach party. And having an overnight slumber party the night before a wedding may appeal to the bride, but not something you cannot miss. Did she become a spoiled princess when she got engaged, or is this new stuff? Bad manners for a bride, being rude to friends when she does not get what she wants.

I think she’s being inconsiderate. She should know you have a lot on your plate as well. At the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you and your budget, so stand by your decision and don’t feel bad about it. Hopefully you can guys can eventually discuss it and move past it because it’s such a small thing when you think about. It’s the wedding day that’s really important. Hopefully she will come around and see that.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this, she’s definitely being inconsiderate of your finances. You could have very easily just told her you couldn’t go but you are being a good friend and trying to be there for her! You are in the right here for sure. Maybe she will understand after thinking about it a bit more. I told my girls to not even worry about throwing a bachelorette party for me because I know they can be expensive. I sure as hell don’t have the money to throw one for someone right now so I can’t imagine they do either! I really hope she comes around, best of luck to you!
