Friends Theme Song in Wedding Processional

Julia, on February 20, 2024 at 10:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Hello!

I love the Friends theme song and thought it would be cute and fun for my bridesmaids to walk down the aisle too. However, my sister suggested that it might take away from the seriousness of the occasion. While I want the ceremony to have a certain level of elegance, neither my fiance or I are particularly uptight (neither of us would think it inappropriate). However, I wanted to make sure that our attitudes about it weren’t neglecting the significance of the occasion.
Any advice?

I think it’s a sweet bridesmaid processional. If you and your fiance like it and there’s no venue rule against it (some churches have rules on secular music), then go for it! I walked in one friend’s wedding to 500 Miles and it was a lot of fun.

If you’re not sure, maybe you could look for some kind of instrumental version, maybe a little slower to be a better walking song. Our recessional was Beautiful Day by U2, but it was too fast for us. We found a strings version online that was just perfect.

I say choose whatever song you both love! This is your big day and it should reflect you as a couple. If you're questioning whether it will fit with the vibe of your ceremony, you could also use the song as your recessional when you walk back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony.
