Friday weddings?

Erin, on December 1, 2020 at 11:53 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21
Hi there! 100% new. I got engaged in August of this year and initially my fiancé and I had wanted a solid fall wedding. So, at first we chose October 22nd, 2021. We had wanted a Saturday but Saturday, October 23rd was taken at our venue.

However, being impatient and concerned about how the October weather would turn out here (Great Lakes region and unpredictable), we decided to push the date up to September. The only September dates they had left were of course, Friday September 10 and Saturday, September 11th.
Naturally, due to the associations with 9/11, we declined the 9/11 date and instead chose Friday, September, 10th.
Anyone else going to be a Friday bride and anyone else getting married around or even on 9/11?
Nice to meet you all!

I got married on a Sunday because the venue was cheaper. My friend might get married on a Thursday. Do what you want. Smiley smile

Many couples get married on a Friday so it's nothing too out there!

I'm not a Friday bride but I do know that it's much cheaper than a Saturday date. We chose Saturday but when we were looking around for a venue, Friday's were about $1000 cheaper.

When my ex-husband and I got married it was on a Friday. Friday and Sunday weddings are nice as its apart of the weekend which can make it easier for guests to attend but doesn't come with the costs of a Saturday wedding.

My FH and I chose Saturday, October 23, 2021 due to work schedules and also trying to make it a weekend that my son, from that previous marriage, will be here. But what makes that date even more special to me is that it's my late Grandfather's birthday, so the month of October will be quite meaningful to me (my son's birthday the 1st, wedding anniversary on Grandfather's bday).

Congratulations and good luck with all your planning!

I’m a Friday bride! Our venue offered the same pricing on Friday as they did Saturday, but their minimums were much different, and for us we were right on the edge of the minimum count so we decided to go with Friday because ultimately that might save us some money. A lot of people are looking forward to it because they’ll still have their weekend to recover and it’s 2 days of recovery vs. 1.

I’m actually getting married on a Thursday in the beginning of October! My fiancé and I wanted to keep our original anniversary date & ironically our venue did not have Saturday/Sunday availability (so it all worked out)! Weekday weddings (especially Friday’s) have a lot of pros: cheaper prices, more vendor availability, and a full weekend for guests to recover haha.

I'm getting married on a Friday! We picked a Friday because it meant that it was significantly cheaper at our venue!! Sometimes other vendors give you a discount with booking a Friday too!

I’m so glad to hear a lot of other people are getting married on a Friday, too.

I knew it was not that out there but I did not know how common it is. I also love the idea of having the full weekend for everyone to recover. My fiancé and I want the Saturday after to recover and then hopefully we will be heading out on our honeymoon that Sunday, September 12th.

I wanted a Friday wedding! As a guest, I personally prefer to attend Friday weddings over Saturday. We ended up choosing a Saturday because it worked best for our schedule but I would have preferred a Friday.

Were getting married on a Friday! Our first choice date was a Saturday(obviously) but venues were already booked (more than year out too). So far the response has been positive! (COVIDS messed up a lot of people’s wedding plans.. so people understand the changes)
however Friday seems to becoming a popular choice now since it’s a great start to a weekend!
I wouldn’t worry- if guests want to make it on a Friday they will. It’ll be a blast! 😊

Friday weddings are very common and have equal attendance to a Saturday. Guests are given plenty of notice to schedule time off work between save the dates 6 months head and invites 6 weeks ahead.

As far as Sept 11, life still goes on. People have birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other events. It's identical to Dec 7..similar event on opposite coast and associated with fear and respect for years but people still functioned, got married, had birthdays, etc on that day. Ask 9 out of 10 people today and they can't tell you anything about it.

Friday’s are fine! As long as you two are okay with it. Whoever can come will come. Especially being in a pandemic, people will understand.

Friday bride 🙋🏽‍♀️ We’re getting married in Key West, and as it’s a “destination” wedding, we wanted guests to enjoy the rest of the weekend in the Keys!

I was a Friday Bride last year! We did have a few guest decline because of being on a week day but we anticipated that.

I’m trying my hardest to convince my fiancé that we should do a Friday wedding. We were supposed to get married in April 2020, on a Saturday, but we decided to postpone due to the pandemic. Our deposit at our venue is non-refundable, so we’re scrambling to pick a new date. Most of the dates still available are Fridays. We’re now also running into an issue with our DJ’s availability. Like the venue, the DJ company is running out of Saturdays. I’ve always wanted a Friday wedding. I’ve been to a few, and despite my fiancé’s and his mother’s #1 concern (that no one will come), they had decent turnouts. He was even IN a Friday wedding!

I'll be a Friday bride! September 23rd, 2022. Friday's tended to be much cheaper at most venues in the area and I like the idea that my guests have a full weekend to recover. It also allows out of town family to stay the weekend to spend time together. I know most will need to take the Friday off from work, but if they want to be there they will. Smiley smile

    Hi Kali,

Congratulations on being engaged. My fiance and I are getting married on the same exact date as you are. We chose a friday because they are a lot cheaper than a Saturday wedding. I like how we can have Saturday and Sunday to relax and not have to worry about going back to work until Monday! you are right, if people want to come to the wedding, they will take a day off. Smiley smile Happy wedding planning!!
