Friday Wedding

Jasmine , on April 3, 2017 at 8:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

My fiance have postponed our wedding 3 times and we are now dead set on April 26 2019 and we are not changing it no matter what. The only thing is its on a Friday. Just curious how everyone feels about a weekday wedding.

    I'd have no problem attending a Friday wedding. I may have to take the day off from work or leave early, but it's well worth it to watch a loved one get married! As a bride, I think it's a smart choice since weekdays and Sundays are much less expensive than Saturdays at most venues.

    Our first date was on a Friday then after talking to the venue and finding out the times we have to be cleared out we figured it would either be a very short wedding and reception or not many ppl would come bc it is a day most work.

    Do you have a lot of OOT guests? If most of your guests are local, then a Friday evening wedding shouldn't be an issue. However if most of your guests have to travel, that may be problematic. Also consider variables like rush hour traffic.

    We are doing a Friday wedding! With enough notice everyone so far has said they'll just take the day off or head over after work. Most guests of ours are out of towners so they'll be taking a few days any ways. No issues thus far.

    Totally fine. Just give everyone who might be coming from out of town or who works during the week a lot of notice.

    Friday evenings are already the weekend in my book! I prefer a Friday wedding over a Sunday!

    We did the same thing!! Kept changing our minds or something would happen and we would have to move the date and now are 2019 as well!! We have also decided to do a Friday! We asked around and most of our friends and family preferred Friday as a start to the weekend and Sunday to recuperate lol

    We're having a Friday wedding and while some people can't come because of timing, they wouldn't have been able to come if it was that Saturday either. Most of our guests are OOT.No one has been negative about having a Friday wedding

    What difference does it make since you're not changing it no matter what?

    You have to know your guest list. My best friend got married on a Thursday, 4 hours away, and out of 100 invites, 80 RSVP'd and showed up.

    Do keep in mind how important or not, it's for your why the majority of your guest list be there. For me, if my VIPs can make it, that's all the matters.

    Some brides want a larger attending guest list.

    I'm doing a Friday and the verbal feedback so far have been positive (haven't sent invites yet). I went to two Friday weddings last year and I really enjoyed having a long weekend and an excuse to take a day off of work. I sent my save the dates out in December just so that people would have a little extra heads up and know to take the day off if needed

    My wedding was a Friday night. It was great. We discussed with our family and close friends before confirming it to be sure it worked ok for everyone. Be sure you schedule the ceremony late enough to accommodate most of your guests' schedules

    We're doing a Friday. It's a 3 day weekend, so it will be easier for people to attend and then travel back home.

    We do weddings every Friday night. Just do it. And making it later won't make any difference;

    People will definitely come. I do agree that you should think about rush hour traffic. My friend did this in DC and had the WP not been running late some people would have missed the ceremony due to rush hour traffic. That is definitely those guests' miscalculation though.
