Friday wedding - dj or no dj?

Yeraldin, on May 27, 2020 at 10:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
So we plan to get married on June 25, 2021 which falls on a Friday with a guest count of maybe 50, it’s mostly family, and majority of them are going to have to drive at least an hour or more for our wedding. His family, according to him, aren’t really the type to dance while my Mexican family would. I don’t know if we should follow through hiring a dj. If we don’t what kind other entertainment could we do? Would it be weird to have them drive an hour or so for the ceremony, dinner and cake? Also if we don’t should we inform them ahead of time on our invitation?

I would totally do a dj if it’s in budget. They help organize and keep things going. Introduce you, can play different music for dinner, cake cutting, etc. You make it work for you both.

The day of the week is irrelevant. People will travel any distance to celebrate with you. Spend the money on a dj.

I think for a small wedding it’s ok to forego a dj

If your family wants to dance - if *you* want to dance - get a DJ. They help with emceeing the event, can adjust the music to the vibe of the party, and can play a variety of styles, to accommodate both cultures.

DJs do so much more than just playing music for people to dance to - they really orchestrate the flow of the event. I would definitely recommend booking a DJ.

50 people isn’t too small for a dj. We had one for less people and it really made the night.

I went to wedding anniversary not long ago where there was a dj for 75-100 people but only 10 people danced and had a blast regardless
