Friday or Sunday Wedding??

Paige, on April 13, 2020 at 8:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
Due to the coronavirus, we're postponing our wedding. The only dates our venue has left are Fridays and Sundays. It has to end at 10pm either day so a late Friday evening isn't doable, and most people are pretty local so 10 isn't terrible late on Sunday. We're torn, which is less inconvenient for guests or which do you all prefer?

What time does your wedding start? If it starts before 6 or so, I'd recommend Sunday because I wouldn't want to take time off work as a guest or risk being late to the ceremony.

Honestly it depends on your guest list. You have to know your group. For us it would be a Friday night even if people had to take off work a little early but for others it might be a Sunday.

We were planning on starting at 4pm, so it would interfere with a work day unfortunately.

I’d say Sunday. They have a Saturday to prepare. Last minute shopping, travel, beauty needs and they don’t have to take a day off of work.

In that case, if most of your guests work or go to class during the week then I think it makes sense to schedule on a Sunday. 10 isn't too late for a weeknight in my opinion.

It would be more preferable for a sunday wedding moreso in the day. otherwise i feel like if it's a friday it could start later and end later but if it's also gonna end at 10p that's really not too late. so i guess i still vote sunday.

I’m doing a Sunday. Didn’t want people to feel like they needed to take off work.

If most guests are local, then I would hands-down choose the Sunday. Nobody would have to take off work, whereas they would almost certainly have to for an early Friday wedding!

If Saturday's aren't available if we have to reschedule, we're looking for a Friday night. Most of our out of town guests would be planning to come in a few days early and also, I know a lot of our guests would be drinking, so it just seems better for people to have the weekend to recover.

We're doing a Sunday wedding. Our venue didn't have any Saturdays left in the year so we also had to pick between Friday or Sunday, but I like that we'll have the entire weekend to prep for the big day.

I Wils probably go with a Friday wedding due to Sunday being the evening before the beginning of a Week. I would just be worried about parole having to cancel and not making it if you really want them there🙂

As a guest, I prefer Friday weddings to Sunday weddings, but you know your crowd better than we do!
