frame your wedding dress? HELP?

Angelica, on September 17, 2012 at 2:44 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 15

Last week my mother told me that my dress was ready to pick up, she was in charged of having it dry cleaned...but then ahe hit me with a surprise she hasn't had it preserved yet. Well now I decided I want to frame my dress but I have no idea how to start or where to start looking. Has anyone had their wedding dress framed? Help please.

I think Cydney did this or is planning to -- perhaps shoot her a PM?

    Got it...thanks ladies Smiley smile

Professionally framing your dress is extremely expensive. To frame the entire thing (such as the photo below) it will cost you between upwards of $2000+ ... this is how I'm planning on framing my dress.

I do know that Michael's had a 60% off frame sale a couple months ago, and when I inquired about the cost, I was quote about $1200 ... which was still a little too rich for me.

Is this how you're wanting your dress to be framed? If so, I can give you the tips my husband has told me and what we've found out.

Well my mom would be in charge of paying, so yes I definitely want it. It looks stunning. & seeing my dress everyday would be a reminder of the best day of my life. Thank you ladies so much. And thank you Cydney

Angelica...my suggestion is to shop around and ask some of the local framing stores. Some of the quotes I got were in the $5000 range! The $1200 was hard for me to want to do too b/c it was the same price as my gown.

Make sure you have a wall large enough for your dress before you actually jump into doing it.

I'm putting mine up in my office (for obvious reasons for those who know what I do) Smiley smile

What about if you just want to shadow box things. I want to put my bouquet in it with my garter and my FH tie from the night. My dad can build the box for me but I dont know what to do to keep the things from getting dusty and stuff. Do you have to do something special to have it stay beautiful forever??

Rebecca...you may want to look at preserving your bouquet if that's the case

    Here are DIY instructions

Or you can have it Professionally done

This is an idea i found on pinterest and i love it and my dad and grandmother are going to do but she had a frame shop so she knows how to professionally but it gives you another idea of the look you could go with and it might be cheaper seeing as it is smaller.

If you look closely the back is the bottom of the dress turned up

    Hey Cynthia,

I am looking into framing my wedding dress. I was wondering if you found a place that could do it, or at least a place that had a frame or box that would work for a DIY project. Or if you found a way to frame your dress your self.
