For those who can't afford photobooths...

Alina, on February 8, 2012 at 8:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

The other thread about what everyone wishes they could have made me post this.

I wanted a traditional photobooth too that you can rent, but couldn't afford it, so I'm compromising.

Now, I am setting aside a small corner with a backdrop put up (I'm probably going with a patterned bed sheet, but it could be whatever you like) and having a table with a bunch of fun props. hats, chalkboards, etc.

I found these websites helpful:

http://www.tiffanykelley.com/blog/2010/10/diy-mustaches-photo-booth-prop/

http://printable.tipjunkie.com/free-photo-booth-printable-lips-and-mustaches/

http://www.bridepop.com/do-it-yourself/do-it-yourself-photo-booth/attachment/diy-photobooth-wedding1/

Anyways, just in case you hadn't already thought of it, this is a way to have a photobooth without really costing very much.

We have a friend who is going to take pics at it during the cocktail hr and then we plan on sending pictures to everyone.

If you don't have anyone to take pictures, you could set up a tripod or a table that they cna put their cameras on and set a timer on the camera. Or leave a camera set up with a remote that they can use on their own.

I think it's going to make for some really cute pictures!

I made the moustaches and stuff all from $store supplies, and it only took like 30 mins.

edit: used stores are a great place to find funky hats! I got some cute straw ones.

We are doing a semi homemade photo booth We are paying a couple hundred dollars more to have a 2nd photographer added to our package. Instead of having both photographers out on the dance floor taking pictures during the reception, one is setting up a backdrop to do a fake open photobooth. We will be providing homemade props for it!

A few weeks ago LivingSocial had a deal for half off a photo booth rental, so I ended up spending $199. Keep your eyes peeled! Maybe they'll do it again.

That's a really good deal Amanda! The ones in my area run anywhere from $800-1400. Way too much!

We're going to attempt a DIY photobooth. My old computer died a while back, so I have some spare parts for this, and FH is handy with computers so he can probably get it all working together. Here's how to do it from Offbeat Bride:

If you have an iPad there are two apps that could really work. One is a wedding booth for pictures (called Wedding Booth) and the other is a video/picture booth (called Thrilled For You). We are going to use our iPad or my girlfriend's brother's computer. It is a Mac and I hear they have a computer app as well that works. You can still bring props and even build a makeshift booth using a curtain.
