For those of you who changed shoes for reception...

Amanda, on May 15, 2016 at 8:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

How does that work? My heels are 3.5 inches. If I change to flats (converses that my fsil wants to bling out for me) won't I trip over my dress? I know this is a common thing so how did you do it? Which shoe did you get the dress altered to fit for- heels or flats?!

They altered my dress to the shorter shoe but the difference in my shoes wasn't much at all. I would ask your seamstress

I am actually switching to flip flop sandals that have the same 2.75" heel as my shoes (but platform, so lower effective heel).

I altered my dress to heels. I will change later into another dress and flats.

I would think they would alter it to the lower shoe. Ask your seemstress, they should know best.

Just get platform flip flops like PP suggested. You don't want the dress to be too short when you wear heels

Are you getting your dress bustled? My seamstress said I can wear heels during the ceremony but if I want to switch to flats for the reception to bring those with me when she does the bustling so it won't be too long

I'm wearing flats all day, so even though I am changing shoes, the heel height is the same. I would say to alter your dress to the lower heel, but 3.5" is a big difference and may look odd when you're in the higher heel.

I changed from 4" heels to flat sandals and didn't think anything of it. I just picked my dress up if I felt I needed to, but I didn't even notice the length while dancing.

I had my dress hemmed with my flats on so when I did put on heels my dress would be a little off the floor. I wore my flats most of the day but wore the heels for pictures and dances.

I'm changing from 3 or 4 inch wedges to sandals, and didn't really think much of it. I'll just mention it to the seamstress when I start alterations. I'd prefer the dress be altered to the higher heel because I hate when the dress looks too short in the photos walking up the aisle.

Same as Reese I got mine altered to the heel and changed to flats. I didn't have much of an issue.

Mine is altered to my heels. I'm switching to flip flops. I don't think it'll be too big of a difference.

I'm doing the same as Mrs. T.. Or at least that's what I plan to do. The seamstress will want to hem your dress to the shorter shoes.
