For those doing dessert buffets.....

FutureMrsHodges, on October 8, 2011 at 11:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

How many different desserts are you providing ?

Are you baking or buying them?

What type of display for the desserts?

What's your overall budget ?

I convinced my FH into doing a dessert buffet. He is only giving me a budget of $200 for everything. Is that even possible?

My desserts :

brownies

banana wafer puddin shooter

strawberry shortcake shooter

purple and silver hershey kisses in apothecary jars

mini cheesecake

pecan parlines

I want to do this display , but I'm still not sure yet.

Our venue includes the cake or dessert buffet. We decided on the buffet, but we won't get to select our menu definitely until March! I can't wait!! I have no idea what they offer in there, so it's all news to me.

We do plan on having a rum cake available, whether from the vendor or from outside.

Okay that doesn't sound too bad. Are you including you're cake in this? Dishware or is this just for linens?

NO FMIL is paying for the wedding cake and venue provides linens. The $200 is for the dessert, display, plates and etc.

I'm on samsclub website and they have 63ct mini cheesecake for 14.68 . I might can get most of the desserts at sams . My FH just suggested buying regular size desserts and use a cookie cutter to get minis.

I think it's definitely doable! I would suggest making a good bit of it instead of going by boxes. I think it's much cheaper that way. You can find plastic cups(martini glasses, etc) at Wal-Mart, Target, etc for pretty cheap and I think that would be just fine for a dessert table. You could get them at Sams, I'm sure. Afterall, you don't want people breaking glasses, etc.

I really lucked out because DH's mom was just starting up her baking business so did all our desserts on the house for us. =] We ended up with the wedding cake, 2-3 flavors of cupcakes, chocolate ganache brownies, and cookies. Yummm!

She's also going to remake the cake for our one year anniversary. Awesome.

Oh and a candy bar. LOL It kept our guests happy and we even had leftovers! =O
