For Pennsylvania brides-august

PA Brides!!! Any August weddings still hoping not to cancel? I am hoping to decide begining of June, and debating changing the reception just to a backyard get together after our church ceremony. What have been your thoughts or decisions about August in PA for weddings? .

    Hi Jolene,

Unfortunately, I don't have any specific knowledge about PA (aside from having some family in Philly and Pittsburgh). Your back-up plan sounds viable, though. It's great that you've already given thought to how you'd handle a change to your original plan.

The general consensus for August is that couples should continue to monitor the situation and try to make a decision by the end of May or early June as you mentioned. It's basically a waiting game right now. You're not alone. Check out these discussions with other August couples:

Hi Jolene, PA and August bride here! Our venue told us in yellow they can only offer the space, cannot serve food or bar while in yellow. Our venue said we can have a full refund if needed. We are waiting to see what the summer holds and keeping Aug 14th date for now. Worse case scenario we will marry with just family at church and perhaps cut our cake at venue with champagne we bring. What part of PA are you? We are in the western part of state.

Hello!! I like your back up plan. We are hoping to go into the green by August but it’s so hard waiting. No mattter we are still going to have the church and then debating on just a back yard gathering but it’s too hard to cut our guest list. We are in the south East part, Chester county. we booked a fire hall for the reception and they just keep telling us they are taking a month by month. Hoping with three months always, things will change. Well wish to you!!!

Thank you! I know exactly how you feel, waiting and not sure if we are having a big, medium or small wedding is making us crazy! Both the backyard and firehall are good plans. Backyard receptions open a lot of creative doors! A bride in OH on this forum emailed her governor about weddings and he actually addressed it in his press conference approving wedding receptions up to 300 people! Tempted to email Wolf to put on his radar. Keep you posted if I hear any good news for us PA brides!! ❤️

I saw hopeful news for us yesterday, Governor Wolf announced if the county is in green, up to 250 people can gather!! Now just to get our county to be green 💚 I’m hopeful our counties will have time to turn green over the next 2 months.

Good morning! Oh yes! We need green then!!!! If June is yellow, two months until August it has to be green! I haven’t been keeping up with all the news cuz it just stresses me out!! Thank you for letting me know maybe now I’ll watch it more. Come on green. All us brides deserve to be excited! I actually was still debating on a bridal shower but everyone keeps saying still have it!

Absolutely - bring on green!! LOL!! If it helps, we moved my shower to the Sunday before the wedding (Aug 9). It will be a busy week but we thought it would give us the most time for the virus to minimize. I know of another August bride (Friend of a coworker) with who is doing the same and having hers one week before the wedding. 💚🥂☀️

PA bride here with a set date of 8/28/20! I live in northeastern PA and our county just went to yellow so I am still hopeful that by the end of August we will be able to have our wedding. If not we plan to get married in our yard and have a reception at a later date. I was supposed to have my bridal shower in a couple weeks, but since food cannot be served indoors at the restaurant until the green phase we are considering doing a drive thru bridal shower as a backup. I just keep telling myself I will be marrying my best friend no matter what!
