Food Truck Wedding

Jessica, on January 29, 2019 at 7:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

We are having a Food Truck as our main caterer and we are looking at additional options for apps before. My fiance is insisting that he wants to hire servers to take the food from the food truck to our guests, but I feel like this defeats the purpose of having a Food Truck Wedding and we might as well look into standard catering. What is your opinion? Has anyone been to a food truck wedding before?

I went to one last summer. We waited for over an hour to get something from the truck. If there were more than one it probably would have worked better.

I am checking with the Food Truck we want to use to see what their average service time is for a wedding.

We've also come up with the idea that maybe our guests can take their meal selection to the truck and a server bring it out to them so its the best of both worlds. I'm just not sure if its possible or what the typical procedure would be for that.

I wasn't at a food truck wedding, but we had a few venues bring this issue up. Are you having just the one food truck?

This actually isn't a bad idea and as you said gives the best of both worlds! I think it's worth it to ask if this is something that they can do!

Are you having more than one food truck?

We are having a mains truck and a dessert truck so technically yes but not really. But I did talk to our truck and they said they can definitely go that route. So it we get people to put their orders in during h'ordurves then I think it'll work out nicely. Plus we will have a starter salad after h'ordurves

I haven't been to a food truck wedding but my FH's work did a food truck christmas party. And it was terrible. Even for like the 50 people there you had to wait forever for food. I think it took close to an hour for everyone to get food and by the time we got our food, others had long finished eating. It was like someone took the cons of a plated meal (only get one plate of food, can't pick and choose amounts if you want like 2x the amount of mashed potatoes) and buffets (wait in line - takes forever) and that was the meal.

I would also find it very weird to have to 'place my order' during cocktail hour. I would either consider getting 2 to 3 more food trucks for the main meal, or only doing a food truck during dessert (where people typically aren't all getting it at the same time) and doing more traditional catering for the meal.

My daughter and Fiancé looked into a Food Truck only for after the Wedding as people were leaving so they could take something "yummy" as a token. We decided against it because it would take way to long for the guest to get the food. Its a wonderful idea but people do not want to wait in line for a Main Meal especially at a wedding. Maybe you should re-think your Food Truck Idea. Our Venue is providing "Sliders" in boxes as each guest leaves. I wanted a "Hot Pretzel" stand. The venue threw in the Sliders.
