I want to start off by saying I am NOT self catering. I'm just curious if anyone has ever gotten food poisoning at a self catered wedding? A lot seem to be obsessed with guests getting food poisoning at a self catered wedding. I googled it, but only weddings that had been professionally catered got food poisoning. I'm personally not self catering because I don't want my friends or family to have to work on my wedding, and the stress of self catering that many people would not be worth it to me.

Jaclyn and her husband got food poisoning from a self catered wedding and spent Christmas in the hospital. There's been quite a few stories on ww about it.

I've watched way too many people leave the bathroom without washing their hands to eat just anyone's food. And for events with large guestlists, there are just too many things that could go wrong if you aren't properly trained. Reason #43, I often travel with an emergency granola bar.

I hate it when people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Makes me cringe.

The bathroom thing is the reason why we're having waiters serve people at our buffet line. You're not gonna put your piss hands on the tongs. Not at my celebration.

I'm lucky I didn't get food poisoning for a wedding I was a bridesmaid in last summer. It was partially self catered and the food sat out in the hot sun. I shouldn't have eaten it but I was so hungry from not eating anything else that day.

I take food safety very seriously lol. I always buy new flour/sugar and other ingredients when I know I'm cooking for a family thing because I never know if FH licked his fingers then touched the lid or licked the spoon after tasting his coffee and then double dipped because his coffee needed more sugar... I have the "home use" containers full of ingredients, then in a separate place (usually where FH doesn't know about it...) I have the containers with ingredients I know haven't been contaminated and can be used when I make stuff that'll go to other people.

Wow, so much stuff I hadn't thought of before. Thanks for all the input. I take back all my thoughts of, "boy, they sure are sensitive to food poisoning on here", Lol, a good lesson to learn.

This will make your cringe, I went to a friend's BBQ and he used the same tongs to place the raw chicken on the grill and to get it back off. That was a time I went to taco bell afterwards.

Haha Grooms, I hide things from him just because I'm selfish sometimes so it's not all innocent!

On the opposite end of the scale, you have your great aunt Wilma rolling our pastry dough, but she just can't keep her darling kitties away from the counter.

Someone has a really good meme for this. Who was it? It had an image of someone making a huge potato salad directly in the sink, lol.

I got e.coli from a family birthday party once. The more people that are hosted at a party, the more likely mistakes will happen during food prep. In this occasion we think the lettuce for our salad wasn't rinsed all the way.

Lol, Ladies, I'm going to be scared to eat my friend's cooking. They're going to be looking at me and saying, "Why ain't you eating, Bitch I know you hungry."
