Food help!

Kenia, on January 16, 2021 at 9:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hello everyone!

I am Hispanic and my fiancé is white. I am thinking about 2 different caterers, one for traditional southern food (he’s from Ga) and one for Mexican food. Has anyone ever done this? Is it too complicated? What do you suggest for 250 guests? Splitting the caterers in half? Any tips would be gladly appreciated.

I think this would not only be hard to work out amount wise, but would also be cost prohibitive. Would you be able to do one for appetizers and one for the main dinner? Such as elote in a cup, empanadas, ceviche for appetizers and BBQ for dinner? Or vice versa: mac & cheese cups, brisket sliders as appetizers and a taco bar/fajitas/etc. for dinner?

I don't know as if the caterers would allow this. Most vendors have a clause in their contract that states that they can be the only vendor providing said service. Aside from that, I'm not sure how it would work out logistically.

Can you find a caterer that does any kind of food? Have you considered a different cuisine? Maybe rehearsal dinner southern and reception Mexican or vice versa?

Most caterers will do stations where each is a separate cuisine but the same caterer makes all the food. Also you may run into issues with a guestcount that large with current restrictions

I would not use separate caterers, and it may not be allowed.

I am certain there are caterers who do both Southern and Mexican. Or you can incorporate both or either culture into your cake

Very similar situation here. We found a bunch of caterers in our area that do whatever type of food you want. Keep searching. I think having two different caterers will be more chaotic than not.
