Food cost for 200 people.

SoonToBeMrsS., on May 16, 2016 at 7:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

Do you think 4700 is a lot for 200 people? The meal range from $20-26 dollars so I went in the middle for an estimate. In all reality we probably won't have 200 come but we will be inviting that many. Just seems like alot to me. I'm in the Midwest if that makes any difference.

No. I think $23-ish per head is definitely on the cheaper side.

I don't know about average prices in your area, but I don't think that sounds like a lot at all. 200 mouths is a lot to feed!

I'm paying more than that for hors d'ouvres!

That's actually an awesome price (especially if it includes the service charge and tax). I am assuming this doesn't include alcohol though.

Doesn't include alcohol or any tax and fees. The fees are another 1,000ish

Still not bad on the pp food price. Are you getting food you love? Does it include apps?

Can you tell us what's included in this cost? Is cocktail hour included in that 23? Do you have an option of more than one entre to pick from? That's incredibly cheap compared to here in NY.

The cheapest wedding I've heard of around here, was my mom's friend's daughter; they paid $109, including service charge and tax, 5 years ago for a banquet hall reception. It included a cocktail hour food spread and passed hors d'oeuvres, 5 hours of open bar, 4 plated courses, cake, and centerpieces. We're in the suburbs of a major, east coast city. Of course, that includes all tables, chairs, tablecloths, the venue rental, parking, etc.

That's pretty cheap per head. I thought mine was good at $35/head not including alcohol or apps. A lot of venues I went to were between $60 - $120 a head. So it think that'd a very good price.

Well I have options for the entree. Not sure what we would go with yet and I do believe it includes cocktail hour but I think that's if I go to $26. I'm not sure. I have to ask on that.

OK cool. All together for ceremony site, reception venue and food, with fees it works out to about $44 a person which isn't bad when I look at it that way. Just a little sticker shock at first lol. Alcohol will be a whole different adventure

Yea I had my concerns at first because I have to use the venues caterer. But every thing I've seen they have raved about the food. If I go with the venue that's my only option so I didn't really shop around anywhere else. I also think it's helps that it's at a non profit organization.
