FOCCUS test

This "test" is required if you want to get married in a Catholic Church. We took it July 21st and our pastor told us it would take about 10 days for him to get the results. Well it's been awhile since then and I haven't heard anything back yet... for those who have taken it, how long was it until...

@Christy I completely agree! FH and I were both raised Catholic but don't necessarily agree with everything it stands for now. We are mainly getting married in a Catholic Church for our parents but if it's too much of an issue with us living together, we'll pursue alternative routes.

My husband and I took it online, got the results as soon as the 2nd person finished it. It isn't a pass/fail type of test. It is just supposed tell the priest or marriage classes what areas you two need to line up on... money? Kids? Sex? Family of origin issues? If you are being honest with yourselves, you already know the answers

Yes we had to do one too for our wedding and it didn't take that long but we had to wait for an appointment with the priest to go over them probably like two weeks. It was a good tool I think, I wouldn't call it a test though more like a survey.

Sign me up for the bad Catholic club. We had a lot of disagrees about issues but mainly because I didn't think we talked enough and FH did. We did agree that we disagree with the church which highly concerned our priest. We got the test back in two weeks and met with our priest then. We also had two meetings. One fully dedicated to how we can be better Catholics. I had to be on top of the office though. I called to ensure it was sent and received.

@spaghetti again, my church was super lax (I'm really just noticing how much) and my cousin never said a word about us living together.

I have been raising my kid Catholic, I guess, but it's more to make my mom happy. I'll never force this on her because it's such a pain. I want her to be free to make her own choices.

@Christy years ago, in a different engagement, we attended that 8 hour session and I remember thinking how dumb it was then too. Glad to know it hasn't gotten any better!

Oh I really hope my FH and I won't have to do that. We aren't getting married in the church but our officiant is a catholic priest who is marrying us at the venue we want. We do have to complete precana but that will really annoy me if there is a test on top of everything else.

Our priest went over our results when we met with him. Different diocese have different requirements for pre marital obligations

We just took it online. You don't go over the answers until you go to pre Cana.

FYI It's not a "test" it's just an assessment with really obvious questions like " do you trust your future spouse"

Yea my church was pretty low key too. My pre Cana even had a catered dinner and open bar.
