FOB and FOG question

Whatever you want. If it's a formal wedding it makes sense for all the men (dad's included) to be in tuxes. In my experience they usually match but I've always thought it was weird that the dad's match the groomsmen when the moms don't match the bridesmaids.

My groom and his men are in tuxes and the FOG will be wearing slacks and a sports coat. My dad will be in his suit.

I could be wrong, but ive always thought no to the dad's matching the groom/GM/ushers. the MOB and MOG dont wear the same color as the WP, so why do the dad's have to? as long as they wear something that goes nicely (for pic purposes) I say let them wear whatever.

I would say it's up to you. For our wedding we put my dad in a black tux with a silver vest and tie (FH's dad isn't in the picture), FH is in a tux with an ivory vest and tie to match me, GM are in tuxes with purple vests and ties to match the BMs and ushers are in tuxes with black vests and ties.

Thanks Kimberly and Blair! I felt the same way. I didn't think they needed to match but they should be wearing something that would look nice in the pictures. My dad just keeps telling me that I should be telling him what to wear and I'm the type of person that just wants everyone to be comfortable. I don't understand why he thinks I should be telling him what to wear. Honestly, I told him that that the groom and groomsmen are wearing grey, so I thought it would be best for him to wear black. Other than that, I feel the suit and what shirt and tie he wears should be up to him. Does this sound right?

My guys are also wearing grey suits white shirts & teal vest & tie. FH is doing grey with white shirt & ivory tie/vest. my dad FOB is doing the same grey suite white shirt & the grey tie/vest....FH its his step dad who is a jerk to him anyway so he can wear anything that he owns LOL.

I think they should be different....I would like for my dad to "stand out" in the crowd

@Kirst your comment made me laugh! My fh is wearing the grey suit with a white shirt and black tie and the gm are wearing the same grey suit with a white shirt and purple vest/tie. I think it'll look nice if the dads are in black suits since the gm and fh are in grey. I'm thinking just a standard black suit with white shirt and black tie, unless they prefer grey tie/vest since that's one of the wedding colors and would kind of make them opposite of the bridal party. Our groomsmen are wearing grey tuxes with purple vests and ties. FOB and FOG will wear the same tuxes but with black vests and ties.

Our dads wore the same tux as the other guys, but their vests matched our mom's dresses. So our guys attire went something like this:

DH - Chocolate Brown Tux, Ivory Shirt, Ivory Vest/Tie

Groomsmen - Chocolate Brown Tux, Ivory Shirt, Cognac Vest/Tie

FOB - Chocolate Brown Tux, Ivory Shirt, Plum Vest/Tie

FOG - Chocolate Brown Tux, Ivory Shirt, Apple Vest/Tie

Here's a pic of both of our families, you can kind of see how it all looked. My brother was a GM so you can see that too.

My dad wore a black suit with a blue tie that matched my mom's dress, since they were walking me down the aisle together.

FIL wore a suit.

Our GMs were in grey tuxes that were very suit-like, so it wasn't a formal wedding by any stretch.
