Flowers after wedding

Martha, on January 25, 2019 at 12:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
What did you do with your flowers when the reception is done? Did guests take the flowers and vases home, and how did you notify them that they could? Did you have to pack them up and bring them home? I really don’t want to do much packing/cleaning after the reception

I gave my headtable agreement to my SIL. One of the cousins took a bunch of flowers. I didn't have vases, I had lanterns and those were not to go home with anyone. Those were mine.

We don’t plan on making any sort of formal announcement but anyone who wants flowers is welcome to them. Whatever is leftover my parents will be taking to my grandmothers nursing home the following day.

We had a farewell brunch the morning after in the same room. We used the garlands from our reception tables and added the little tabletop Christmas trees. After the brunch, we told the guests whoever wanted to take a tree home could (we had about 5-6). We took one of the trees so we could later plant it in our yard. Our DOC packed everything for us and we took the garlands home to use to decorate our house and gave some to my MIL as well. I then had my bouquet professionally preserved in a frame with my invitation.

I have no clue what happened to any of our flowers after the wedding to be honest! But I am not a flower person at all and hate when anyone gets me flowers. I think vases went back to the florist and it was one of those things my wedding planner handled that I didn’t need to know the details haha.

Very cute! I want to do one of those shadow boxes with my bouquet too!

My reception is at a golf course in summer so they always have parties or luncheons Sunday’s, and most our guests are from the area. We just gotta have everything out by 1 am, and I am sure I will be pretty tired by then, and don’t want to deal with the flowers lol

Thanks! I've been a guest at a wedding in the past where the bride let us take home the floral centerpieces so I loved it. I'm sure some of your guests will love to take home the flowers!

At my cousin’s wedding she let the guests take home her centerpieces and I loved that! We will be doing the same thing. We’re leaving for our honeymoon soon after the wedding so there’s no use keeping flowers ourselves when they’ll just die once we leave. My bouquet is sola wood (just ordered tonight!) so it’ll be ours forever.

I think I will do the same, just need to make it known to my guests that they can take home the centerpieces. And I had to look up sola wood flowers.. that’s a pretty cool idea, they look so real!

I work in housing, so I plan on donating the centerpieces (mason jars with flowers) to a homeless shelter or domestic violence shelter. I have a good amount of DIY items, so I’ll need to figure out how to pick it all up and get it out. One of the things I plan to my list of things to discuss with my day of coordinator.

We're not planning on a lot of flowers on the tables, but we are using a lot of brass candlesticks and trinkets. I'm going to ask my coordinator and bridal party to make sure no one takes anything. I have plans to use them after the wedding.
