Flower girl basket help

Michaila, on August 26, 2019 at 2:23 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
We're having a literary themed wedding so our ring bearer will be using a book instead of a pillow as he walks. I'm still not sure about our flower girl. I can't find a basket I like. My sister made these adorable book roses for the reception so we want to use the leftover petals from that for her to toss. I'm attaching pictures of her dress and our bridesmaids bouquet and the roses my sister made along with an idea of what we're thinking for the ring bearer. (I just ordered a nice hardcover copy of Lord of the Rings since he used it in his proposal and I thought it would be fun to bring it in to the ceremony in a very subtle way)

I've also toyed around with the idea of a kissing ball for her, but my aunt is making all my flowers and I don't want to put more on her. Plus I like the idea of her tossing petals...
Any ideas that might fit my style? What are you doing? All I know is I don't want a traditional satin basket. Thanks

What if you glued those roses around the edge of a basket?

I love the literary theme, and the idea of tossing book page petals. I think something like a rustic wicker or picnic basket could fit well, or even something that looked like a drawer from a card catalog. We don't know any kids above the age of 2, so we're skipping the flower girl and ring bearer, but your plans are making me jealous haha

Something like this pic? I've seen large versions of these used as book/magazine holders in homes.

The other idea that comes to mind is making a book store purchase bag from a plain paper gift bag with some searching online for logos.

First thing that came to mind was Belle with her basket in Beauty and the Beast. The flower girl dress reminds me of Belle and she was a total book lover. So maybe something just simple and wicker?

I think a wicker basket from a thrift store or craft store would be perfect! I also like the idea of doing the petals from the roses your aunt made

I like the idea of a wicker basket, they are seen in several books. I also had the thought of taking a wood basket and decoupage book pages to it.

Of course! That's perfect! Just simple and plain since her dress is so intricate. And I can see about making her flower crown more brown/twig like to match and that will look beautiful against her blonde hair. 😊 Thanks! Might do a few book rose buds but we'll see

I can't find a picture of the exact way I was thinking but hopefully this one will help and I am sure you could DIY it pretty easily with some old books. Back in the day, kids would use belt straps to carry their books to school. What if you took some old, thin books and build a box (5 books-4 sides and a bottom-a lot of hot glue) with a old belt handle and put the rose petals in that...

Those book page roses are fabulous!!! What if she carried a small silk pouch?

I’m putting the Petals (If I can find them, FH is a foot taller than me, so things end up over my line of sight) in something that the Flower Girl can use again.

Okay this would take some work but humor me here...
what If you took a stack of old books, glued them together, and then hollowed out the middle of them somehow. Then add a strap. It would literally be a “book bag” but more like a book basket. It would be tricky and you may need to commission someone with tools to make it happen but it would look cool!
