Florida beach reception

Alba, on June 29, 2020 at 12:51 AM Posted in Florida Planning 0 4
Hello all! So it’s definitely too late to change my venue but I will be getting married in the Florida Keyes on June 5 2021. I like in California and will be moving to Florida soon. I plan on having the ceremony at 5:30 and cocktail hour and reception to follow on the beach as well. I will have a tent for the reception. Will June be extremely hot in the Keys? Will everyone hate me? If I get fans will that help? What else should I keep in mind? How can I make it better for my guests? I would hate to spend all this money for a wedding and have people be miserable.

    Hi and welcome!

I have never been to the Keys, but I do know that FL gets hot about... April? And stays that way through October.

That said, I don't know how things are on the islands, and what kind of breeze you might get. Does the reception area have staff who can guide you on this?

I used to live in FL and yes, it will be extremely hot, and humid, in the Keys in June! Even with fans. I suggest having a lot of water on hand for your guests. Program fans would be a nice option as well.

It will definitely be hot and probably humid. Can you get a tent with walls that allows for AC units? Will your power hookup support that much demand?

It will definitely be hot, but there are things you can do to help! I’d talk to your venue and ask for their recommendations based on previous weddings there. I think renting large fans to keep air moving under the tent is a great idea, as well as doing program fans for your ceremony!
