Flip Flops at the reception? How do you do this?

Rae, on September 29, 2011 at 8:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

How the heck did you do this? We are thinking of having a little basket of flip flops to have available for people to take and wear during the reception, but how do you go about doing this? Did you ask people for shoe sizes? Did you get more of one size than another? Did you have enough pairs for every person?

We actually had two kinds of dancing shoes--flip flops and Chinese cotton Mary Janes. The Mary Janes could be worn with hose, and had a better grip than the flip flops. What we did was to get a selection of shoes from XS to L, but with the biggest number in the medium sizes. Details are at this link.

Here's a link to someone who made one, she says how many she bought and what not, http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/flip-flop-basket-1

I've been thinking about doing it but I'm not sure yet, I just don't know how many female guests I'll have :/

Once a year Old Navy has a $1 flip flop sale. I would just go in and grab 50 pair in all sizes. You can have 2 baskets that say S/M and L/XL. I am sure no one will complain if the grab a pair that are too big or too small. Your guest will just be thankful not to have to dance in the bare feet.

    Thanks Tach!!!!

MekMek--I HATE going to weddings where everybody takes their shoes off. I think it's uncomfortable and tacky :-( I wore new heels to the last wedding I went to in May and my feet hurt like HELL once I got home, but by God, I did not take those suckers off all night.

Rae - I'm waiting for the sale too. I'm hope with us having a beach wedding that most gals will wear flats but who knows. I've added the extra expense into our budget. I'm going to bling a pair out to match my Chucks. Are you excited yet???

I will get more excited when we are down to less than 370 freakin' days. I feel like this is never going to get here so I'm getting a little depressed :-(

This would be a great idea if you're having an outside wedding and someone wears heels... I wanted a flip flop basket for this reason but FH said no because the pavilion has cement so he doesn't see the point. lol

We're doing the ceremony on the beach---but it's a DW, so I'm wondering if this might be a waste of money, since if you're traveling to a tropical island for a beach wedding---won't you know to bring flip flops?

We are also doing this for the reception.............And what we are doing is, that we are buying the average size for the guests............As we know almost everyone..........so just by assuming their size we are going for the average size plus some large size.........

That is certainly one of our most common FAQ, so let us share our graphic of USA and Canadian weddings average in sizes, we took this info from about 1000 clients that bought flip flops from us,
