Flag Day Bride

So my wedding day is actually flag day next year. I would love to incorporate this into our wedding somehow without it being too kitchy. I'm not sure if Flag Day is just supposed to be celebrating the actual physical flag, but with FH being in the Navy we use it as another holiday to celebrate being proud to be an American and be thankful for our men and women who fight for this country. Anyway, I consider myself to be a pretty creative person, however I am afraid that because our theme is "romantic, elegance" and our colors are pewter and a blush pink, that just throwing a flag on something is just going to NOT look like it belongs. We are doing my moms homemade jam for wedding favors and my mom suggested we put a flag printed cloth over the lid and tie with twine, I like this idea but I would also like to show it in another way, I was thinking maybe in my garter? Does anyone have any other ideas?
