First songs.

Ashley, on September 22, 2009 at 8:35 PM Posted in Planning 1 42

In an attempt to figure out a good playlist I am going to start a little "thing" here. List for me three songs. 1st the first song you associated with your soon to be spouse. 2nd a song that always makes you think of love. and 3rd the song you have chosen for the first dance. (if you don't have these songs, maybe this will inspire!)

I will start

1. Crazy Bitch __ Buck Cherry (for the first six months we were together this came on the radio every time we were together)

2. I'll be __ Edwin McCAin (I always thought my first dance would be to this)

3.) Best Friend __ Queen (John picked this o be our first song since I wouldn't let it be by anything by SLayer..:-) )

    1. Good Old Days - Phil Vassar [For a long time Shaun and I would watch our nephew a lot. He was 2 at the time. We used to blast this song with him and Shaun and Connor would raise the roof to it. haha.]

    2. Lost in this moment with you - Big and Rich [This has been my first dance song wish since it came out, until the next song came out this year. Its so pretty and romantic]

    3. Then - Brad Paisley [I think the words in this song are so beautiful and touching]

PS: Can you tell I am a huge country fanatic?

    1. Don't Trust Me by 3OH!3 (we actually heard it on our first date and giggled the whole time it was on.. I know, not romantic, but totally us!)

    2. In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel (just simply gorgeous, and not sappy)

    3. Tangled Up In You - Staind (We agreed on it due to the lyrics, the group, and how it makes us both want to cry lol)

    1. I Do (Cherish You)-Mark Wills (Don has always told me how much I deserve to be cherished)

    2. There's No Place That Far-Sara Evans and Vince Gill (A long time friend of mine and I use to send each other songs to convey the way we felt, this is the last song I received from him before he passed in July.)

    3. Every Day-Rascal Flatts (Don and I both feel like we have been each others rescue, that our relationship bloomed when we both needed saving.)

Apparently I'm also a country fanatic.

    1. Me and You - Kenny Chesney or Then - Brad Paisley. Me and You was the first song we danced to at the dance we met at, and Then because we are celebrating our 10 year anniversary next month, and this song really sums it up!

    2. When You Know - Shawn Colvin, I Do - John Schimdt, or Have You Ever Been In Love - Peter Cetera, or When You Love Someone - Peter Cetera, OR (haha) Do You Love Me That Much - Peter Cetera

    3. From Here To Eternity - Michael Peterson (this was supposed to be our first dance at our wedding, but the DJ didn't have it Smiley sad

Melissa - that is how it became our song! saw him in concert and said 'i love you' to each other for the first time RIGHT before he played that song. Then we sang it to each other Smiley smile Saw him again this year for our 1 year 'i love you' anniversary. He is soooo great in concert and he writes so many of the best country songs.

    1. I'm Yours - Jason Marz (He hates this song, but everytime it is on her looks at me and smiles and says "I know you love this song!" HAHA!)

    2. At Last - Etta James (I love the old songs... they have so much meaning, but he is so not into it!)

    3. When God Made You - Newsong & Natalie Grant (Lucky for me... the first thing I established in our relationship was his relationship with Christ. I found this song and him and I fell in love with it! There is a male and female part that is us in a nut shell!)

1-"You Got It Bad" by Usher...that was always our song when we were first dating & hear it sometimes on the radio & we just smile!

2-"It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill...this was our 1st dance choice once we first thought of getting married about 2 years ago!

3-"Only You Can Love Me This Way" by Keith Urban...this will be our 1st dance song. We both love it & think it's perfect!

    1. 'Everybody' or 'Swan Dive' by Sister Hazel - actually, a lot of things by Sister Hazel, they're kind of 'our band'. Listen to them! They're fun!

    2. 'In My Life' or 'Real Love' by The Beatles and 'God Only Knows' by The Beach Boys (I think this will be the song for our processional)

    3. We've been going back and forth between 'See Me Beautiful' by (who else) Sister Hazel or 'She's Got A Way' by Billy Joel...SH will probably win out! LOL

I'm with you CelticChick, rock is my go to for dancing and rockin' out, but I lean towards to the oldies or softer artists when looking for more sentimental stuff.

We haven't chosen any of our songs yet but I just wanted to say Thank You Ashley for posting this. They played Edwin McCain's I'll Be song on a movie I was watching a while back and was like oh yeah I need to remember to add that to my playlist. And then for the life of me could not remember the song and I was so sad because it is a beautiful song. And now thanks to you its on there.

Jamie.. I am glad this helped. I am just trying to get some song ideas to fill up a playlist.

The reason I asked about rock, is because while I think slower stuff is more romantic... John (fh) is a metal head and I am trying to find a happy medium. We both love Rammstein but none of their songs are..um.. lovey? :-)

    1. "Feels Like Home to Me" By Chantal Kreviazuk [We had a long distance relationship for almost our entire first year together].

    2. "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones

    3. "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray LaMantagne [We love ray, and got his new album on the first day it came out last year. When we heard this song we looked at eachother and knew it was perfect! Plus, we're having a 10-piece band at our wedding, so the live play will be incredible!]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iTX3-cbWnM
