So my fiance and i had always said "everything" by Michael Buble would be our first dance song but then I went to my cousins wedding last month and she danced to a song called "You Make It Real" by James Morrison and it made me cry. Now I realize that Id rather have something slow and emotional as my first dance song but I am having a hard time finding something that hits me that strongly. What is everyone dancing to for their first dance? Maybe other peoples songs will inspire me

    "Best thing" by Relient K- it's a fast song, but my fiance found the accoustic version for us. Smiley laugh

    "When I Say I Do" - by Matthew West the words and everything about this song suit both my FH and I perfectly.

    My FH picked our first dance song. I wouldn't have picked it myself, but the fact that he likes it so much and thinks it fits us perfectly, means a lot to me, so we're going with his choice;

    Nickelback - Never Gonna Be Alone

    We'll dance to my pick for our last dance;

    The Eagles - Love Will Keep Us Alive

    I just had a couple choose this suggestion. You may like it too.

    Do you have an idea of what message you want to convey during your first song?

    Put another way... if you had to tell your husband something about how happy you are to be with him, can you tell us in 1-2 sentences? That will help us narrow down a better song for you.

    I've been thinking "The World is Ours Tonight" by Gloriana.

    "Ain't no going back to the start again

    Time will tell us how the story ends

    So beautiful, we can make it right

    The world is ours tonight

    The only thing I have is everything to lose

    I would lay it all on the line for you

    To be here by my side

    The world is ours tonight"

    For the past couple years I have always said it would be Big & Rich's "Lost in this moment." but recently, because I really am trying to go for the forties hollywood feel, I have been re-thnking all the music choices. I am thinking of having a lot more big band type music.

    I have always loved Linda Eder so I am now thinking of a song she sings called "It's Time." She is not mega-popular, so you may not know who she is. She is very big among Musical Theater circles. Her music and voice is amazing and this song is just beautiful to me.

    For some reason song called Songbird by Eva Cassidy really touches me deeply. But it might be little too sad for a wedding song. Haven't brought up the song talk with my new fiance yet.

    We used to be long distance too, so a lot of songs are coming to me, like Come Away With Me by Norah Jones, among so many others.

    "can't take my eyes off you" by Lady Antebellum. I cried the first few times I heard it. Plus, it's in 3/4 time, and FH knows how to waltz, so that's a bonus!

    Meghan F! I LOOOVE that song, I bet it is beautiful in acoustic.

    We are doing Just Breathe by Pearl Jam. And btw, Hollyann, it might just be me, but I think Everything can be a bit of a tear jerker!

    In case you're still looking... I was just listening to a new song that would be very appropriate for a first dance.

    This particular video version is not very good, but the studio version is much better (musically speaking). Your DJ should have it if s/he subscribes to some of the professional promotional music services.
