My husband and I had the same problem when we got married. Our song is "Lover Lay Down" by Dave Matthews, and I just felt weird dancing to that with grandparents around. Smiley winking

We ended up going to Target and stood in the CD section for a while, and just started looking through CDs for ideas. We narrowed it down to 3 cds, made a fun dinner at home and spent the evening listening to them.

Jazz is always a good option for this. Etta James for a more soulful blues feel. She's got some great standards, but even some quirky fun slow songs if you want something like that.

Diana Krall - check out her "Love Songs" CD - every song on there would work for it. We actually went with her rendition of "Under My Skin" (she did an incredible slow version of it), and you can find it on her "Live In Paris" cd. We kind of liked the applause from the CD on this one. Smiley smile

Norah Jones, especially her first CD "Come Away With Me" has a bunch of options.

If anything, it's a fun way to spend the evening!

My fiancee and I love jazzy, lounge music and we wanted to the song to show our fun-loving personalities. We ended up going with Dean Martin's "Ain't that a Kick in the Head?". We are currently taking swing dance lessons and we truly are having the time of our lives bonding over our general lack of dance skills. I highly recommend picking something that is personal to you but that you don't mind sharing with 150 of your closest friends.

On a side note, make sure you read the lyrics well before you decide on something. We nixed our first choice after realizing that it was talking about cheating Smiley smile

    "Gravity" John Mayer

This is a beautiful song, and its easy to dance to!

    Good luck with that!

You can also go to lyricsdemon.com and look up love songs, read the words and decide if a song fits you that way!

My fiance and I have chosen to dance to "Feels Like Home". There are a couple of versions...one by Bonnie Raitt and another by Chantal Kreviazuk (on the "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" soundtrack). It's a beautiful song and it really describes how it feels when we're together. I would doubt that it's been used very many times as a first dance song. Just to make our first dance extra special I plan on recording this song myself with some help from my friends (including my father who is a drummer). I'll be surprising my fiance with it pretty much the moment we start dancing. It's something I'm doing just for him, so there will be no announcement to let anyone else know who is singing it. That's another great idea if you are musically inclined to make it original.

Songbird by Eva Cassidy (originally by Christina McVie of Fleetwood Mac). It made my husband cry.

Well, our first song was "God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. This is consiered to be country. And if you like country you could also try "Lost in This Moment" by Big N Rich. At least listen to the lyrics because they truly are perfect for a first song. Good luck!

I hope this post will be helpful. First and foremost, this is your special day and the song you two choose should reflect your personal styles and likes. The following is copied from my website: If you find yourself stumped about which songs to choose for those “Special Dances”, perhaps some of these will help give you inspiration. For a Timeless Classic, consider “As Time Goes By” (from the movie soundtrack Casablanca) “Chances Are” (Johnny Mathis), or “When I Fall In Love” (Nat King Cole or Celine Dion)Are you and your betrothed “True Romantics” at heart? Then consider “Crazy For You” by Madonna, “Just The Way You Are” by Billy Joel, or “Love Me Tomorrow” by Chicago. Or maybe the old crooners rock your world – “All The Way” by Sinatra, or “I’m In The Mood For Love” by Ella Fitzgerald. For a more contemporary twist, “Ice Cream” by Sarah McLachlan or “"She” by Elvis Costello. More info can be found here> http://www.kickit-productions.8k.com/music_choices.html

    Good luck!

We are kinda stuck too. FH suggested Roy Orbison "Anything you want". It's an oldie, but the words are so sweet. But I think we are going with "Crazier" by taylor swift (its from the hannah montana soundtrack), but we always joke that we drive each other crazy. But ive always wanted "We are Man & Wife" by Michelle Featherstone. but it's just kinda long...anyways, hope this all helps!
