Finished my DIY Bouquets! **PICS**

Jennifer, on April 6, 2012 at 4:18 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 42

I finally got a night off to spend working on my DIY bouquets with "silk" flowers from the dollar store. I used:

1) Metallic Red Roses and White Roses ($36 for all the red ones, $11 for the white)

2) Black, Red, and White velvet ribbon ($15)

3) Red and Clear crystal corsage pins ($6)

4) Floral Tape ($3)

5) Duct Tape ($5)

6) 50 Black Ostrich Feathers ($50)

7) 10 Red Ostrich Feathers ($10)

8) 10 White Ostrich Feathers ($10)

Grand total for all 7 bouquets: $145

It's feels so good to be fully done with a DIY project!!!!! YAY!!

I LOVE the handles on your bouquets!!!! How did you do yours? Is that just a patterned ribbon?

The design and size of them is Beautiful as well.

Do you have any tips for future brides? Did you take any pictures as you were going along?

I'm not sure if you can/or want to add it in, but maybe some bling crystals to your bouquet?

Hi Hayley, Great idea, I was thinking about adding in some bling to my bouquet, but I didn't have the crystals yet. My Michael's was sold out. I can always add them later! I found some old Christmas ribbon and wrapped it over the white velvet.

I should have photographed them as I went along! I was on a roll, I wasn't thinking.

    My basic steps were:

    1) hold all the fake roses in one hand and arrange them to make a nice shape (each BM bouquet got 3 "bud" clusters and 3 "open" clusters. Mine were all the same.

    2) I used floral tape to bind them all together for BM (duct tape for mine since there were 11 stems in mine).

    3) Then I used duct tape to hold the feathers in place, evenly spaced around the flowers

    4) More duct tape to thicken the handles so they were all even and the same thickness

    5) Then I took a small piece of ribbon to cover the bottom of the handle.

    6) Then I wrapped the ribbon around it in an evenly spaced spiral

    Con't

    7) Once I got to the top (under the feathers) I tied half a knot so that it looked like an upside down "V" and tucked the extra ribbon into the center of the bouquet

    8) I used two corsage pins to hold the knot in place (one on top and one underneath the "V")

    9) Tried to evenly space another 6 or 2 corsage pins down the handle to make it sparkle.

For mine, after I wrapped it in white velvet I wrapped it with wired Christmas ribbon and that mesh.

    10) For mine also I put a ring of corsage pins around the top to make it more sparkly.

I think I will go with the extra bling additions to make my bouquet more sparkly!

I watched a bunch of youtube videos to figure out how to do it all!

I love black duct tape... can you tell?

Here's zoomed in shots of my "top knot" for the Toss and BM bouquet... Mine's blurry in these, but it looks the same with more crystals

So you can see the differences in size of each type, mine is the biggest an the toss bouquet is the smallest:

I love them! I also am using the same colors and used Dollar Tree flowers for my centerpieces. I love how they came out.

Those are incredible! I love the colors, the feathers, their "fiesty/passionate" feel (hope that's what you were going for, lol). Awesome job!

    Thanks ladies!

@Kristi, I wasn't originally going to do feathers but because they were very obviously fake flowers I though the feathers would help.

    @ Eric & Rachelle, I was going exactly for a "fiesty/passionate" feel! We're having a red-black tango themed wedding

Thanks @Seasidebride!! I just didn't realize how pricey ostrich feathers were until I needed them!
