Finding an Affordable Wedding Dress

Affordable means different things to different people. Are there consignment shops in your area? I got mine there. It was a sample dress but in perfect condition. Search the dress tab on wedding wire for ideas and designers who make what you're going for.

Also, Tradesy and preownedweddingdresses.com are good sites for re-sale dresses.

If you see a gown you like in a store, see if someone is re-selling the dress on there.

Bought mine used. Harder to find the one you love, but totally worth it to me! I paid $250 !!!!

I would definitely look at buying off the rack or getting a used dress. I found my dress used for 1/2 the price and was kicking myself for not even looking before I bought it.

Check for trunk sales in your area. I got an Allure dress with lace for 10% off (it was still about $1300). I've never been to David's Bridal, but from what friends have told me, their dresses feel cheap compared to other designers.

Rebecca Ingram is another great line - it is a Maggie Sotero line that has all dresses priced under $1200. I tried one or two on and really liked them!

Bhldn.com has some lovely gowns for under $2k. Try trunk sales, online resale sites.

Thanks all! Great suggestions. My friend was telling me about some online stores that ship designer looking dresses, where you can get Maggie sottero for under $400. Anyone have real luck on these sites? Or are most a scam?

I got mine at David's bridal. Wasn't planning on it, just went there to get an idea of styles and stuff, but then I fell in love with one for $500. Definitely worth scheduling an appointment at David's

Consignment shops can be fabulous; they have samples, returns, once worn; the savings are amazing.

I would not risk an online knockoff site. i know some people have had good luck, but my personal brides all have horror stories.

I haven't gotten mine yet but a couple of ladies here had such great reviews of their dresses from dressilyme.com that I went ahead and ordered mine, and got it for $237 including shipping from the UK. Here is my dress pic.

Etsy is a great source of beautiful wedding dresses for a reasonable price.

I bought my vintage style dress at David's Bridal for $150. I got great service too.

My dress was lace, ball gown, MoriLee and it cost $1,300. I know a little over budget still but I wouldn't say quality starts at $2K.

The bottom back half of my dress I am OBSESSED WITH IT!! With veil was $1600 not under $900 but less than $2000.00

There are beautiful lace dresses at the $1,000-1,500 price point. I saw many of them in the bridal salons I went to. Just be persistent and keep looking, good luck!

Maybe look into prom or evening dresses or custom designers on Etsy.
